Botanical Name: Andansonia digitata

Extraction Method: Cold Pressed

Description: Also called bottle tree, upside-down tree, and monkey bread tree, Baobab tree is native to South Africa and Madagascar and has a life span of thousands of years.

Color: Pale yellow to golden yellow liquid.

Aromatic Description: Baobab Carrier Oil has a slight nutty scent.

Common Uses: Baobab Carrier Oil has been part of African skin care for centuries. Rich in vitamins A, D, E and F and other essential fatty acids, Baobab provides excellent moisturizing benefits to the skin and hair. It absorbs easily into the skin, improves tone, elasticity, and regenerates and renews skin cells. It is said to have antioxidant properties and is an excellent ingredient in formulations for eczema and psoriasis. Use in small percentages in face creams, lotions, body butters, conditioners and hair care treatments.

Consistency: Typical and Characteristic of Carrier Oils.

Absorption: Absorbs easily into the skin leaving a silky smooth feel and will not clog pores.

Shelf Life: Baobab Carrier Oil is extremely stable against rancidity and users can expect a shelf life of 1 year with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight). Refrigeration after opening is recommended.

Good silky feel. Completely absorbs. But the smell is rancid exactly like Dax marcel hair curling wax. I bought it to use as a nightime face serum/makeup remover, but i've grown tired of the unpleasant smell, there is nothing floral about it but possibly rancid nuts is more like it.

I tried this oil and it is very smooth, non-greasy. It does have a rather strong nutty smell, which can make it challenging to blend with EO's when you are looking for a specific blended aroma. That said, the oil is great, just not the best for blending.

I absolutely love the smell of this oil and have been using it on my rashy acne prone skin for a week and haven't really noticed anything yet. I'm going to give it a month. I have dabbed this floral fragrant oil on my pulse points as a perfume. It is really delicious smelling.

I thought I'd try this on a whim and I'm so glad I did! Baobab oil has a beautiful light almost nutty/floral smell right out of the bottle. It has no oily feel and leaves the skin so soft. I will definitely be using it to complement my facial oils and creams.

i have been using this directly under my eyes and on my lips for about three weeks now, my undereye area looks less transparent and the little milia bumps are gone. fine lines are gone, and i have a deeper wrinkle that is less evident because the area seems to have plumped out. on my lips it feels really smooth, at first i had some flaking that lasted about 2 days, i exfoliated with a toothbrush and pure shea butter, and kept applying am/pm. the small lines above my lip that my liner always creeps into have vanished and my lips look pinker and fuller. i think shedding that top layer allowed penetration of oil. very happy with results. now i need to fiqure out how to make a balm so i can use this any time.

I received my baobab oil on 10/30. I was interested in purchasing baobab oil because on a trip to Senegal I saw a number of baobab trees there and some were 800 years old! I figure if these trees can live that long the oil must have tremendous regenerative qualities. I'm using it in my face cream. I'll keep you posted.
