Bergamot Essential Oil - Bergaptene Free

 Botanical Name: Citrus bergamia
Plant Part: Crude Fruit peel
Extraction Method: Cold Press
Origin: Italy
Description: The tree can grow up to four meters high, with star-shaped flowers, and smooth leaves, bearing citrus fruit resembling a cross between an orange and a grapefruit but in a pear-shape. The fruit ripens from green to yellow.
Color: Greenish yellow
Common Uses: Bergamot essential oil can be used in the treatment of depression, stress, tension, fear, hysteria, infection (all types including skin), anorexia, psoriasis, eczema and general convalescence
Consistency: Light
Note: Middle
Strength of Aroma: Medium
Blends well with: Black Pepper, Clary sage, Cypress, Frankincense, Geranium, Jasmine, Mandarin, Nutmeg, Orange, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Vetiver and Ylang Ylang.
Aromatic Scent: The aroma of the essential oil is basically citrus, yet fruity and sweet with a warm spicy floral quality, and is reminiscent of Neroli and Lavender oil.
History: The name Bergamot is derived from the city Bergamo in Lombardy where the oil was first sold. This tree is native to South East Asia but was introduced to Europe, and particularly Italy, but is also found in the Ivory Coast, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria.
Cautions: Bergamot oil can cause severe burns when used on sensitive skin that has been exposed to sunlight due to the high bergaptene content.

my mom really likes the smell of this one! i am not a huge fan but it is definitely of really good quality. and the bergaptene free makes it a plus as it is not as photo-sensitive.

In the Las Vegas Sun having the bergaptene removed really helps and it didnt seem to affect the quality at all! Mixes well, great antibiotic for skin wounds.

Outstanding quality and price! Blends well with many essential oils. I can’t detect a scent difference between Bergamot and Bergaptene Free Bergamot, so I will be purchasing the Bergaptene Free going forward for use in body products – Both are outstanding in quality.

This was my first whiff of bergamot and I like it very much! I like that bergamot's more complex than other citrus EO's. This oil has alot of character.

Excellent price for this wonderful uplifting oil! And better than regular bergamot as it is not as phototoxic. Its uses are endless and an 'essential essential oil' for any aromatherapist. Really wonderful with Yuzu or Grapefruit in a refreshing spray. A great buy for the perfect bergamot.

New Directions' Bergamot Essential Oil is wonderful and rich. It works well alone or with other aromatic blends to use in lotions or butters or oils (as I use in my applications). I highly recommend this essential oil to anyone wishing to experiment or to try a new supplier. You cannot go wrong with either the quality or the price point.
