Bergamot Essential Oil
|

Botanical Name: Citrus bergamia Plant Part: Crude Fruit peel Extraction Method: Cold Press Origin: Italy Description: The tree can grow up to four meters high, with star-shaped flowers, and smooth leaves, bearing citrus fruit resembling a cross between an orange and a grapefruit but in a pear-shape. The fruit ripens from green to yellow. Color: Greenish yellow Common Uses: Bergamot essential oil can be used in the treatment of depression, stress, tension, fear, hysteria, infection (all types including skin), anorexia, psoriasis, eczema and general convalescence Consistency: Light Note: Middle Strength of Aroma: Medium Blends well with: Black Pepper, Clary sage, Cypress, Frankincense, Geranium, Jasmine, Mandarin, Nutmeg, Orange, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Vetiver and Ylang Ylang. Aromatic Scent: The aroma of the essential oil is basically citrus, yet fruity and sweet with a warm spicy floral quality, and is reminiscent of Neroli and Lavender oil. History: The name Bergamot is derived from the city Bergamo in Lombardy where the oil was first sold. This tree is native to South East Asia but was introduced to Europe, and particularly Italy, but is also found in the Ivory Coast, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. Cautions: Bergamot oil can cause severe burns when used on sensitive skin that has been exposed to sunlight due to the high bergaptene content.

I had a reoccurrence of tennis elbow and used this with some other oils to relieve the pain. It worked with the other oils and healed faster than the original injury took to heal with physical therapy.

I'm new to aromatherapy and had never used Bergamot, but I am in love. I've never been much into floral scents, but this is so fresh and absolutely gorgeous!

This is the best bergamot I've experienced and I've been using it for about 6 years! It's clean and fresh, yet has that rich 'flavour' other citrus oils lack.

I know that it is said often but once again ND provides an EO that just remindes me of how quality their products are. You see I recently began to purchase from here becasue my old stock was running low. Bergamot was one that I had not yet ordered from ND. It was not until today when I had the chance to smell NEW DIRECTIONS Bergamot in comparassion to the brand I have been using that I realized you simply WILL NOT find a better quality product than New Directions!
I hate to toss out unused prodect - I am not sure what to do with the old Bergamot now - I can not see using it when I question the quality and I have ND's EO here taunting me to open it and sniff it again!
Light, lively, fresh, intoxicating!
Another MUST BUY!

my favourite essential oil of all time. i use it with grapefruit, neroli and texas cedarwood for day to day use to keep me smiling throughout my day, and in a spritzer with tea trea, lavender and texas cedarwood and water for acne. i haven't compared its aroma with the bergaptene free, but i usually use it on the insides of my wrists or misted under my clothes so i haven't experienced any problems with sunlight.

From a perfumery perspective this scent is quite nice. Spicy and citrusy, it adds punch to most fragrances. This is not a sweet smell though, but it may be just what you need to liven up a fragrance.

Good quality oil, I love the smell! I don't use it in leave-on products as it is concedered to be phototoxic. It makes a wonderful Earl Grey tea, I like it much better then store bought!

Very high quality Bergamot. And one of my very favorite uplifiting oils. You might know this scent by it's infamous use in "Earl Grey Tea". Truly an asset to any aromatherapist.
