Description: Cedar leaf oil is extracted from Thuja occidentalis of the Cupressaceae family and is also known as eastern white cedar, cedar leaf, tree of life and American arborvitae.
Color: Colorless to pale yellow
Common Uses: Cedar Leaf oil is considered to be anti-rheumatic, astingent, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, insect repellent, stimulant (nerves, uterus and heart muscles), tonic, vermifuge. It is reputed to be useful in steam baths for rheumatism, arthritis, congestion, and gout; externally, as a wash for swollen feet and burns. Cedar leaf oil is used in pharmaceutical products for its therapeutic properties, as well as in perfumes, toiletries, cosmetics, soaps and detergents for its aromatic properties.

Aromatic Scent: Cedar leaf oil is intensely sharp and fresh with a woody camphor scent.
History: The Canadian forest, a green band which is over 6000 kilometers long and up to 3000 kilometers wide in some areas, is mainly constituted of coniferous trees. The eastern white-cedar is also called northern white-cedar, arborvitae and swamp-cedar.
Cautions: This absolute is considered to be toxic and should be handled with care. It is listed as an abortifacient (a drug or agent causing abortion). Do not use during pregnancy. Do not use without medical supervision.
