Botanical Name: Cinnamomum verum Plant Part: Leaves Extraction Method: Steam Distillation Origin: France Description: The cinnamon tree is an evergreen native to China and Vietnam that has since been cultivated in many other regions. It has shiny, leathery green leaves, and small, white flowers with oval shaped purple berries. Color: Golden Brown Common Uses: Cinnamon Leaf is believed to have the following properties: as a stimulant, an antiseptic (as with cinnamon bark), an antibiotic, an astringent, a carminative, an emmenagogue, and as a natural insecticide and antispasmodic. Consistency: Thin to Medium Note: Middle Strength of Aroma: Medium Blends well with: Cinnamon Leaf blends well with any oil from the citrus family, other spice oils (particularly clove), as well as Lavender, Rosemary and Thyme. Aromatic Scent: Cinnamon Leaf oil has a spicy, warm, clove - like smell. Customers seeking the smell of the cinnamon spice should purchase cinnamon bark. History: Medicinal use of cinnamon bark was first recorded in Chinese formulations as early as 2700 B.C. The herb has been used as a healing aid for stomach upset and gas, diarrhea, rheumatism, kidney ailments, and abdominal pain. The Egyptians used it as a foot massage, as well as a remedy for excessive bile. It was used as an ingredient of mulled wines, love potions and a sedative during birth. Cautions: Though non-toxic, it is capable of causing sensitivity - particularly with mucous membranes. It should also be used in proper dilution and avoided during pregnancy.

This is an awesome cost-effective substitute for the more expensive spice oils. It has a sweet candy-like scent and blends wonderfully. Use it sparingly or it can overpower other aromas.

What a terrific scent! I include this in my floor cleaning blend (with other essential oils I purchase only from ND) and the blend leaves my floors beautiful and my whole house smelling terrific. I love finding alternatives to harsh chemicals! I bought the large bottle on this one because I use it so much!!!! Thanks ND for helping me find alternative ways to clean my house and better my family's air quality!

Smells like Red Hots. A very nice oil. I really like this, but will buy the bark next time as I wanted more of a spice scent and didn't read the decription correctly. That was my error thought not New Directions.

I love this oil for a variety of reasons, one being it is safer than the cinnamon bark oil and its use in sensual blends...really adds a spicy warm feel. It can also be used for anorexia, anti fungal, stimulating childbirth contractions, chills, colds, debility, fear, frigidity, gum care, induces menstruation, infection, isolation, lice, loneliness, poor circulation, rheumatism, scanty periods, stress, warts, wasp stings. (Also known as Ceylon Cinnamon, Cinnamomum verum, Laurus cinnamomum, Madagascar Cinnamon, Seychelles Cinnamon, True Cinnamon.) this one is highly recommeded for quality and price.
