Clove Leaf Essential Oil
|

Botanical Name: Syzgium aromaticum Plant Part: Leaves Extraction Method: Steam Origin: India Description: Clove is derived from the tree Syzgium aromaticum. It is a slender evergreen that grows up to 12 meters in height (approximately 36 feet). At the start of the rainy season, long buds appear. They change color over time and are beaten from the trees and dried. These are the cloves sold commercially. Color: Light Brown Common Uses: Clove Leaf is credited as being beneficial for skin irritations, digestive issues, and bad breath. Because of the cheaper price, it is often substituted for Clove Bud in soaps and candles. Consistency: Thin Note: Middle Strength of Aroma: Medium to Strong Blends well with: Blends well with rose, lavender, clary sage, bergamot, bay, ylang ylang, and oils from the spice family and from the citrus family. Aromatic Scent: Clove Leaf has the characteristic Clove smell, only it is much sharper than Clove Bud with woodsy tones. History: The word clove comes from the Latin word clavus, meaning nail, since the shaft and head of the clove bud resembles a nail. Cloves and nutmeg were among the most precious of items of Europe of the 16th and 17th centuries, and they were worth more than their weight in gold. Cautions: Direct application on the skin should be avoided.

Definitely sharper but equally as effective as the Clove Bud. I wouldn't be without it.

A little bit of this stuff goes a heck of a long way. If you want a strong, spicy (or peppery), herbal scent, then Clove Leaf and Clary Sage are a good connection. In the right combination these two middle notes can provide and excellent backdrop for my piercing floral notes whether they be top, middle or base. My wife loves this stuff so much, that I've made her a perfume with just Clove Leaf in it. This Clove isn't for everyone, but for those looking for flexibility, having this scent in your repertoire isn't a bad idea.

not the prettiest smell, though very earthy. Got a toothache? look no further, dab a drop or two on the tooth and it numbs it. also good for treating warts. Even treats mental fatigue

This is a strong, smoky-sweet smelling oil and it smells great on its own or blended with Bergamot or Sweet Orange oil. A little goes a long way in an oil burner!
