Botanical Name: Cocos nucifera

Extraction Method: Cold Pressed

Description: Coconut Carrier Oil is solid at room temperature. It is used to create a barrier on the skin. It is also the preferred oil for high quality cold process soapers.

Color: Clear when liquid, white when solid.

Aromatic Description: Coconut Carrier Oil has a very slight coconut scent, but is generally considered odorless.

Common Uses: Coconut Carrier Oil is the preferred oil for both the soap making and cosmetic manufacturing industries.

Consistency: Solid at room temperatures. Gentle heating is required.

Absorption: Coconut Oil creates an oily, protective barrier on the skin.

Shelf Life: Coconut Carrier Oil is slow to go rancid; users can expect a minimum shelf life of 6 Months to 1 Year with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight). Refrigeration after opening is recommended.

Great quality oil. The packaging is wonderful. The lid comes off of the large drum so the product is removed so easily. Sure beats the soft plastic containers that some suppliers (NOT NDA) offer. Glad i got it at a great price.

This is my favorite oil! I use it in everything and i am amazed by the results i see. It makes my hair soft and silky and my skintone has never been so even. It also makes a lovely bath treatment(mixed with dry milk; i add rosemary and cedarwood eo to make a nice pine-like scent or lavendar and thyme for a muscle relaxent) which i use several times a week. Everyone has complimented me on how soft my skin is ever since i started using it. This one is a keeper for sure.

I use this oil in my business (massage therapist) and I love it. It has enough glide and grip for Swedish and deep tissue massage. At $25 a gallon compared to $65 a gallon of massage cream this is a great buy. Also, one gallon of Coconut Oil will out last 2 gallons of massage cream. A little goes a long way and I do not have to keep applying this oil on the body as I do the massage cream.

Great product. Very subtle sent so it doesn't overpower my products (chapstick, lotions, under eye cream, ect.). I love to use it as a hair mask every other week. Just leave it in for and hour and rinse with a mild shampoo, helps to save my hair (especially after coloring). And what a great price!

This came packaged in a white plastic jar with a very wide lid for easy access. Okay, this is an excellent product for really dry skin. My mom has been using this the most on her hands and arms and I can feel the difference. Her skin is smoother and feels more hydrated. Best of all, her skin is not left oily. She loves this and the price is excellent. I just wish it smelled like coconut instead of like nothing. But... with the price being so great and the results even better, you can't lose. Buy it.

I couldn't make my soaps as lovely without coconut! This is an amazing deal -- I bought the Gal for just over $17 and I can make dozens of batches of soap and other products. It is a little awkward to get the oil out, as the gal jug does not fit in the microwave, so I spoon out what I need. It gets a little messy when I get to the bottom of the jug but that just means my arms end up super moisturized :)

I noticed the poor review for coconut oil, or the container it comes in. I have tried pure coconut oil from other sources and I didn't find the wait time for it to melt out of place. Come to think of it, I bought coconut oil in my last order and compared to other supplier, ND's container opening is actually either the largest I've used or average. Besides, for the value and quantity of the oil, I wouldn't complain.

I was pretty disappointed when I saw how small the opening was on the pour spout of the bottle. The product is wonderful inside, and after I melt the entire bottle down, I am putting it into a wide mouth canning jar for future uses.

This is a great value on a high quality CO. I bought the 33 oz and am in love with it. It's going into all my creation. The only drawback is the packaging. For as big of a bottle a wide mouth opening would be better to scoop out the solid oil. I'm going to do one melt and part it out to smaller containers so I'm not liquefying the big container over and over.

I order my coconut oil from New Directions since years now and the quality is always number one. There is a very very slight fresh little smell -one has to force himself to smell it - but it does not affect any product in any way. It has a very good shelf life and is easy to use. If one does not want to lose time with the 4 kilos containers, let the container sit in hot water, then, transfer in a bigger container. This coconut oil is always fresh and is always a lovable oil.

This oil is really easy to melt; I just put the bottle under running hot water, or leave it in the sink with hot water (not boiling, just hot from the tap), and it doesn't take long at all! Great product, as always.

I disagree with the other posters about the bottle. I find it's perfect, you can squeeze out dollops at a time, without any problems. It's not like the container is glass. The oil itself is great, apply at night and wake up with noticeably more supple skin. Absolutely wonderful, I can't wait to make my body butter with it!

What can I say other than I love it. New Directions offers a high quality coconut oil at a terrific price. I like it because it seems to be very pure. Other suppliers whose coconut oil I have purchased caused my daughter who has severe allergies and sensitive skin to break out in hives but New Directions Coconut Oil did not cause her to have any negative reactions.

This stuff is GREAT!!! Since this stuff stays hard when the temperature is little cooler and melts when it's a little warmer, I use this as a cream after my shower. I transferred some coconut oil to a jar, and then scoop it out and rub in on after a shower. It melts on cskin ontact and absorbs in nicely and quickly but stays solid when stored in the jar. Makes my skin feel so soft and smooth. I'm switching over to this as a permanent body cream for the winter!!

I've noticed most of the reviews here were from soapmakers, but let me be the first to say that I've succeeded in incorporating this oil into a CARRIER Oil Blend with great success! My carrier oil blend is used mostly for massage oils, and I used this oil in a 1:36 ratio, with the majority being comprised of the Sweet Almond Oil. I had to submerge the container in warm water to liquify the coconut oil, but once it was combined with the other oils, the ratio was small enough to not worry about it hardening again. Not only that, but it adds to the shelf life of my carrier oil blend! I love it, and by itself, I couldn't resist dabbing my fingers into it to see how it felt on the skin. Silky smooth!! I know this oil will only enhance the blend I've created, and I love it so far!

The Coconut Oil is great, and I got it for 20% off so it was a great price. It is really good deep conditioner for your hair. Mix equal parts lemon juice and coconut oil, rub it into your roots and let it sit for a while. It also helps with Dandruff.

Coconut oil make the best lather on CP soap! I always add coconut oil in my lip balm, body balm and massage oil (in small quantity) In massage oil, it's make a non greassy oil and a thicker oil when you mix it with other liquid carrier oil. I just love it !
