Botanical Name: Vitis vinifera Plant Part: Fruit Extraction Method: Steam Origin: Germany Description: Cognac Oil is derived from the same grapes used to produce Cognac (Brandy). Color: Pale yellow to greenish yellow Common Uses: Used in flavors and perfumes in trace amounts to give 'lift' and fresh-fruity natural notes i.e., colognes, after-shave and fragrances. It also works well with tobacco related products. Consistency: Medium to Viscous Note: Base Strength of Aroma: Strong Blends well with: bergamot, coriander, galbanum, lavender (All), linalool (aromatic chemical used in the perfume and cologne industry), clary sage, and Ylang ylang. Aromatic Scent: Cognac has a rich aroma reminiscent of an old wine barrel. It has fresh, vibrant fruit tones with a slight green, herbaceous note. History: Cognac Oil is also known as 'Wine Lees Oil' or 'Weinhefeoel' in German. It is produced as a by-product of the distillation of Cognac (Brandy). Cautions: None known.

I got this for mixing perfumes, and I really like the sweet, rich scent--nice for a lighter base than some of the woody scents.

Excellent price for the quality! Most are much more expensive. Perfect for that old world scent in your blends, not much known about the aromatherapy qualities, more for perfumery.
