Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil
|

Botanical Name: Copaifera officinalis Plant Part: Crude Resin Extraction Method: Steam Origin: Brazil Description: The resin is extracted from the wild growing trees. They are found mainly in the South American rain forests - particularly Brazil, Columbia, Peru and Venezuela. They have considerable branches and can grow up to 55 to 90 feet in height. The resin is harvested by tapping or drilling holes into the trunk of the tree. In this way it is much like how rubber trees are tapped. Although this resin is often referred to as balsam, it is not a true balsam. Color: Pale yellow Common Uses: Soothing, balancing, uplifting on its own. In combination with other essential oils it is a great fixative that binds more volatile aromas and extends their life. Consistency: Medium to heavy Note: Base Strength of Aroma: Medium Blends well with: Copaiba balsam essential oil blends well with oils from the spice family, oils from the floral family, and essential oils with Oriental bases. They also work well with the aphrodisiac oils – Rose, Jasmine, Sandalwood, and Frankincense. It can also support the softer qualities of oils such as Ylang Ylang, Vanilla or Jasmine. Aromatic Scent: Copaiba Balsam essential oil has a warm, honey-like scent. It is rich and pleasant; it is easily identifiable as a base note. History: Copaiba Balsam has been used historically as a fixative in perfumes, colognes, detergents and soaps. Cautions: May cause possible dermal sensitization.

The fragrance of this oil is very light but in perfumes it comes out and holds the others together and makes them last longer - known as a fixative.
Medicinally it is a dynamo!

This is one of my favorite oils. Its versatility is astounding - it can relieve pain, reduce inflammation, killl germs, heal wounds, sooth and soften your skin among many other things. The quality of the Copaiba balm at newdirectionsaromatics.com is superb. On top of all this - it smells heavenly.
