Cupuaçu Butter

Cupuacu Butter is native to Brazil and contains phytosterols, an unsaponifiable component that acts at the cellular level regulating the balance and activity of the lipids of the stratum corneum. It has a high capacity for water absorption due to these sterols, and can help stabilize emulsions. It is hard at room temperature.

Common Uses: Cupuacu Butter is an emollient. It offers a pleasant touch and softness to the skin and improves the humidity and elasticity of the skin. It restores the coetaneous barrier and can be used in skin care, hair care and color cosmetics (especially lipsticks).

When adding butters to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them until the texture can be incorporated into the final product. Using a hand blender, create a vortex with your cream or lotion and drizzle your melted butter to fully incorporate. For addition in soaps, the general rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per pound. As with most raw materials, results may vary, so we strongly recommend small, lab scale batches prior to any commercial manufacturing.

Shelf Life: This butter should be stored in a cool dark place and has a shelf-life of approximately 1 - 2 years when stored properly.

This product is sooooo amazing that I want to reorder it again. But it's been out of stock for some time now. I have never had a butter work so well used neat on my skin or lips. For your reference I've used the following butters from ND: Shea refined (BF), Soy, Orange Blend, Cocoa (100% Natural), and some others not from ND like Grape seed and avocado.

I just use it for my face, not for my hair because I would need a lot, and that would be too pricey for me. However, I do think it would work wonders for the hair and body! One day, when I buy lots, I will try it in my hair, just to see. In the meantime - until it's back in stock - I would recommend this butter for making the face soft and moisturising especially during harsh the winter or winds. Use it on my 2 year old face after wind burned cheeks, although each child is different - disclaimer.

It melts easily and evenly with slight pressure on your face and hands (not as easily as Refined Coconut from ND). It's definitely a softer butter. It's not a heavy oily feeling. In fact, I can put some on and go out. On the face it has an almost silicon/ dimethicone feel to it, but it absorbs, and does not leave a layer on the skin, etc. I keep a tiny glass jar of Cupuaçu Butter, mixed with a small amount of other carrier oils, in our hallway by our main door. When I or another family member walk by some gets put on to some part of the face.

My last purchase of this item was the smallest container. Which I now regret. With the amount I use and it being out of stock for a while, I should have bought a larger amount. The remainder I have now, I use sparingly and selfishly just for me.

This butter is absolutely excellent!!! I used it in a hair butter mixture with shea butter and other carrier oils. It blended soo well. Even tho it was a lil grainy, as soon as I ran it thru my hair it melted immediately and left my hair the softest that it has ever been. Absolutely recommend this butter!!

I used this in a heel stick. Never felt anything quite like it. It is to die for and a must have for speciality products that need that extra fabulous something. Does have a distinctive odor, but don't let that keep you from using it. It's wonderful. Thanks NDA for offering this butter at a great price.

This butter has visible healing properties, and it blends with carrier oils to make a perfect lotion. If you don't like the smell, add a fragrant essential. I use apricot kernel oil. It took me several times to find the right ratio of "oil to butter." My suggestion: mix at room temperature.

This buuter is interesting to me, in brazil they eat this butter because of it's nutrients, so I was unsure about using it in my skin care products. However when using this product I find that it does lock in moisture on my skin, nice product.
