Botanical Name: Trigonella foenum Plant Part: Seeds Extraction Method: Steam Distillation Origin: India Description: The brownish-yellow seeds of rhombic shape (about 3 mm). Color: Light Brown Common Uses: Fenugreek is reputed to aid in digestion. As an emollient it is used in poultices for boils, cysts and other complaints. Acting as an expectorant, it contains mucilagins which are known for soothing and relaxing inflamed tissues, relieves congestion, reduces inflammation and fights infection, alleviates coughing, stimulates perspiration to reduce fevers, and is beneficial for treating allergies and bronchitis. Fenugreek is also an excellent source of selenium, an anti-radiant which helps the body utilize oxygen and is also a natural source of iron, silicon, sodium and thiamine. It is reputed to be used in conjunction with insulin to aid in diabetes and also to lower blood pressure. Consistency: Medium Note: Top Strength of Aroma: Strong Aromatic Scent: Fenugreek has a bitter and aromatic scent. The leaves' fragrance slightly resembles lovage. History: Fenugreek is an ancient spice, although currently not much known in the West; it has been grown as a medicinal plant in India and Europe during the Middle Ages. It was used by the ancient Egyptians to combat fever and grown in classical times as cattle fodder. In India it is used medicinally, and as a yellow dyestuff. The name derives from the Latin ‘Greek hay” illustrating its classical use as fodder. Cautions: None known.

very interesting scent - it is not beautiful but very mysterious for sure. I just cant seem to put it down.
I will report later regarding use with blood sugar control.
