At least it smells half decent. I scented it with Woodland themes from NDA. If anyone has any tips I would appreciate it....I think I could use some Laughing

swirling that way in a log mold is hard. try an ITP (in the pot) swirl. once you get to med-thin trace, pour your colored portion into the rest (still in the pot) in three sections - at the points of a triangle) pour from about 12" above the pot to be sure it goes down a ways! give it ONE stir around and then pour it into the mold. you should see something pretty.

if you over-stir you get nasty colors - once around should do it.

I like swirling in a log mold. I'm no expert on swirling, but I pour 1st color, pour second color over the top of it, then the 1 st, then the 2nd, till the mold is full. Then I use a chopstick. Pull it back and forth about 2 times, then I'm done.

That swirl doesn't look that bad.

Irena, I do it that way too - works for me.

Have done it both ways actually. I'm no pro at it, but it gives a nice effect.

I too attempted to do a swirl and failed as i was using a pastry bag with a small star tip and my color of ground rose hip plugged the hole and the rest was history.

My new attempt will be using a bismark tip which is a straight tube like a straw that is about 2 inches long. My goal is to make long lines across the entire log in layers and finish it with a skewer. I think that this will work because the first attempt the pastry bag pushed the base soap out of the mold and became really messy real fast.

Thanks for the tips and suggestion, if all else fails i will try the in the pot method Very Happy

Soapaddict, I am not sure I understand well what you mean, but I make one soap (sorry, I am not equipped yet for pictures) that has a straight line in the middle of the lof and let's say : it makes a all white soap with a pink spot in the middle of each soap. It is very nice.

If it is what you want to do, you just have to get a more heavy trace, put a layer of one colour, then, you take your other colour and make a straight heavy round line the middle of your loaf, wait a bit that it gets harder, and then add the first colour around until the top. Maybe I walk beside my shoes with what you mean. And certainly I am not so clear myself. At least, I try.

loly - do you have photos of the soap you are talking about? Sounds lovely.

I want to know how to get a nice peaked top (I know how to do that) with just a bit that goes down into the soap maybe a half inch or so.

Like this ...

I have never worked with this kind of wavy (very nice) surface.

I cannot send pictures, as I have no camera. This is too bad. Christmas is coming.. I will try to catch Santa Claus in a trap until he gives me my camera.
