| Quote: | Why is it that my one bottle of Pink Grapefruit EO is much lighter in color than my newer one - which is quite dark.
My Lemongrass had what appeared to be "sediment" in the bottom of it. |
Depends on the batch for colour and scent. Unless you are talking Lavender 40/42 which has been altered to be the exact same thing everytime, all essential oils vary from batch to batch just like the plants they come from. Different suppliers (if they come from different places) also have different perceptions of quality. One might settle for commercial grade and thus charge way less for what appears to be the same EO as another supplier who has much higher quality and charges alot more. It depends on the batch in particular and what it consists of.
Regarding the Lemongrass... I'm not sure about this, but I am guessing it is either a component of the EO crystallizing (EO's are made up of MANY components) or it may be some plant material that got into it... I'm hoping it is the first as I would think all plant matter would have remained in the distiller used. Someone trained in this might be able to answer better on this one. _________________ Full of useless links... or maybe not so useless?

I was curious about the Lemongrass, so I went to look at my 1 lb. bottle. It's in amber glass, but you can see the oil through it. Mine has no sediment on the bottom. How old is yours? _________________ Irena

Mine is from NDA, bought in maybe March of this year.
When I poured it out to weigh it, it had dark sediment - reddish brown in color (grainy) in it. It was the tail end of the bottle - I had used it before and didn't notice any sediment.
I have another HUGE bottle that I ordered it is unopened, and it looks ok.
Anyone know why one bottle of pink grapefruit would be darker than the other?
All of these are in dark bottles. Should they be refrigergated? Gosh, I'm gonna need a bigger fridge. |

Each batch is different. It depends on the amount of rain, sunshine, type of soil, where it was gathered and processed. So many variables. _________________ Too blessed to be stressed! |
