Gas Chromatography (GC) Analysis
We have recently added the latest State of the Art Gas Chromatograph as part of New Directions Aromatics ongoing commitment to Quality Assurance. This allows us to ensure that we continue to bring you the most pure Essential Oils nature has to offer.
Gas Chromatographs (GC’s) are both a qualitative and quantitative method of determining the composition of an essential oil. It has become accepted that this is the most important method used in the evaluation of essential oils. Without Gas Chromatographs, the analysis of essential oils would be extremely difficult.
Prior to Gas Chromatographs, only the major constituents of an essential oil could be separated, and even then it required very high quality columns and took days to complete a test. GC reports offer substantially more information and typically take less than an hour to complete. It produces a grid with a series of spikes illustrating the ratios of components and potential impurities.
All oil purchases will be subject to GC Analysis of lot samples and their subsequent testing on arrival of shipment. Any shipment that varies from the approved lot sample will be rejected.
We are currently updating the GC Analysis of all our oils using the newly installed machine and the results will be made available on-line shortly.
We thank you for your patience during this time.
