Ginger Root Essential Oil (CO2 Extracted)

Average Product Rating: 4.7 / 5 (Based on 11 Customer Reviews)

Botanical Name: Zingiber officinalis

Plant Part: Root

Extraction Method: CO2 Extraction

Origin: France

Description: Ginger is a perennial herb that grows to about 3 - 4 feet high (approximately 1 meter). It has a characteristic thick spreading tuberous rhizome. The CO2 extraction method yields a greater number of aromatic compounds from ginger than any other distillation process. In certain conditions at a low temperature Carbon Dioxide or CO2 can be pressurized to become a liquid. This liquid then acts as a solvent and is used to extract the oil from plants. After extraction is completed, the extraction vessel is brought back to normal temperature and the CO2 rapidly converts to gas leaving behind a high quality oil that is free of solvents.

Color: Pale yellow liquid.

Common Uses: Ginger Essential Oil is believed by aromatherapists to be applicable for colds and flu, nausea (motion sickness, morning sickness), rheumatism, coughs and circulation issues. It also has warming properties that help to relieve muscular cramps, spasms, aches and ease stiffness in joints. Ginger is also viewed as an aphrodisiac and is believed to ease anxiety, renew vitality and revitalize self-confidence.

Consistency: Thin

Note: Middle

Strength of Aroma: Medium

Blends well with: Bergamot, Cardamom, Black Pepper, Spearmint, Orange, Sandalwood, Ylang-ylang, and other spice oils.

Aromatic Scent: Ginger Root CO2 Essential Oil has a warm, spicy, woody scent with a hint of lemon and pepper. Customers will find it very similar to the powdered spice.

History: The plant is said to originate from India, China and Java, but is also native to Africa and the West Indies. It is believed that ginger was brought to Europe between the 10th and 15th century as both a condiment and spice. It has been used for medicinal purposes since the ancient times; it is recorded specifically in both Sanskrit and Chinese texts. It is also mentioned in literature from the Greeks, Romans, and Arabians.

Cautions: Ginger Essential Oil can irritate sensitive skin. Avoid use during pregnancy.

This one is so good I almost felt like not writing a review so I could keep it all to myself ! This is my favorite oil in the selection I ordered... it's simply astounding how close it is to the spice, but it's even better than the spice which tends to also smell tarty, this one is like what you could imagine to be ginger flowers ! From up close you get the lemony fragrance full force with an earthy tone reminiscing of the taste of ginger root skin. With some distance the lemon leaves and the medicinal tones spring out like magic, it feel multi-dimentional in a way because the smell is so rich, and unlike what I expected, it's very soft and non irritating, the "sting" of ginger is not present here. From a distance the sweet smell takes over, it's very powerful yet gentle, flowery and colorful golden overtones abound ! Magnifiscient, I have barely begun to use it and I already regret taking only 5 ml ! Leave some for me !

From the great price to the first whiff right from the bottle to blending & diffusing, I have been delighted with this wonderful oil. It is so true to chopped fresh ginger that experiencing the scent is almost like tasting & smelling simultaneously. In blends for diffusing, the power of this oil is immediately apparent. Beyond the literal aroma of ginger it adds a smooth body & creaminess to diffuser blends unlike any oil I've used before. Ginger root CO2 & multiple citrus oils especially the sharper ones are delicious together. It is also amazing with woods -- my favorite experiment so far has been ginger root CO2 with NDA's cedarwood himalayan tweaked with lemon & the tiniest drop of clove.

This has a sharp, true ginger scent - unlike other ginger EOs I have tried, which were a lot "muddier". Very nice.

I like this Ginger very much, I use it in an arthritis formula with great feedback! I made it for a friend experiencing sciatica, she wanted more because it was not only helping her, it helped her husbands arthritis in his hands with just applying to his wife! also mixed with peppermint for an indigestion remedy.

This is a perfect ginger oil. My mother used to have me chop ginger root when I was a child (we're Indian) and this oil smells exactly the same.

I'm very pleased with this oil. It's a warm oil, very different than one would expect of ginger. It's also very soft for a CO2 extract. This oil was recommended to me for my sinuses by my aromatherapist expert. It works wonderfully in a hot bath or shower to clear the sinuses. The mell is warm, black peppery like. It's warm with a kick!

This smell surprised me with it's authenticity and exact match to the scent of ginger root. This EO is the complete copy of freshly grated ginger. Excellent quality.
