Description: Literally translated means "man root", Ginseng is native to North-Eastern China, Russia, and Korea. It is the most famous of Chinese herbs and has been praised for its remarkable therapeutic benefits for about 7,000 years. It is known as an adaptogen, which is a substance that assists the body to restore itself to health.
Common Uses: Ginseng is rich in antioxidants that neutralize the free radicals which can seriously affect the skin. It also contains large amounts of natural steroids (Ginsenosides) which are essential for the production of new skin cells and assist with refreshing dull, stressed and aged skin. Ginseng has also been used in tinctures to heal minor wounds, prevent infection and stimulate cell growth.
