Description: The Helichrysum Italicum plant grows wild in Mediterranean regions. It can be found in regions with dry, high altitudes with a lot of sun exposure. Helichrysum is also known as Immortelle or Everlasting. This is because the flowering tops keep their yellow color ever as they dry out.
Color: Pale yellow to reddish-yellow liquid.
Common Uses: Helichrysum Essential Oil is credited by aromatherapists as being effective for acne, bruises, boils, burns, cuts, dermatitis, eczema, irritated skin and wounds. It is said to support the body through post-viral fatigue and convalescence, and can also be used to repair skin damaged by psoriasis, eczema or ulceration. Helichrysum Essential Oil is believed to soothe away deep emotional stress and diffuse anger and destructive feelings.

Blends well with: Chamomile, Lavender, Clary Sage, Rose, Clove Bud and any of the oils from the citrus oil family.
Aromatic Scent: Helichrysum Slovenia Essential Oil has a powerful scent that can be described as a rich and honey-sweet. It is both woody and fresh.
History: The word Helichrysum is derived from the Greek word helios meaning sun and chrysos meaning gold. This is a reference to the golden color of many of the flowers from this botanical genus. Helichrysum has been used since the time of the ancient Greeks for its great wound healing ability, and was used often after battles.
Cautions: Helichrysum Essential Oil is non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing. Avoid use during pregnancy.

Wow... this is some beautiful oil. I am in love with the scent. It's like chamomile and yarrow had a beautiful baby... helichrysum. This is a strong one so you can use it sparingly. Great in my pain rub and on bruises... like other reviewers have said. I split a sample bottle with a friend since it's pretty expensive - but it will not disappoint.

I use this Helichrysum almost every day. I bruise easily and if I get to the oil on time, My bruises do not turn black and blue. It also works well for pain. It is an oil I use in my pain mixtures. New Directions has a great price and product. Do not leave it behind if you travel.

I had read so many articles about the wonders of helichrysum that I wanted to try it for myself. It seems like the sort of thing a person should just have on hand for first aid. I read that it helped with fibromyalgia pain so I wanted to try it for myself. I put several drops of the helichrysum in my palm & added about a half teaspoon of almond oil and rubbed it into my shoulder area. (The worst of the soreness involves the entire upper arm, shoulder mechanism and underarm area.) I did this with each side. It seems to take about 15 minutes or so, but I believe I am experiencing about a 50% reduction in the pain by doing this, and if I make 2 applications a day it works quite well. I know many people may be unimpressed at the "only" 50% reduction in pain, but if you have suffered with fibro for decades and virtually NOTHING has worked on the pain, you become impressed.
That's why I am writing this review - I want to let others know of my experience. It just might help them. Now - - this stuff has a real scent, so new users, be aware. It's not like anything else I have ever smelled to compare it to. It's not particularly appealing, but has a kind of medicinal smell that one associates with the kinds of things that pack a healing wallop. Because it works I'm getting fonder and fonder of it! (This remark is for someone who has never smelled it. It is as unique and pungent as something like eucalyptus. I'm not saying it smells like eucalyptus (it doesn't) but it's strong & medicinal smelling like it.)
This is one of those spendy oils, but for pain relief, it's worth every penny. I may learn more good things this EO does & will perhaps later add to this initial report, but because someone else might benefit by knowing it helped relieve fibro pain in someone almost nothing has ever helped, I wanted to get the word out.
One other comment: there are lots of warnings out there that tell you to beware of your source on this particular EO. Since it worked, I believe we have our answer here that this is a quality product.

I ws able to formulate a good pain balm blending this with three other herbs in a butter and beeswax and am very delighted to report not only has this oil blend actually improved what I felt a good product as it was.
I have Raynauds among other issues . Raynauds can only be helped by heat , not pain pills.....the salve has worked for fibro pain (no its not another miracle herb that cures all the ails you) but for neuropathy and Raynauds , wonderful. With the other herbs in my blend I can now have a multifunctional product that is not necessarily formulated for one condition. Now, to find that special something that self heats when exposed to air and my product will be DONE!
This is not an unpleasant scent as you will want to reduce it but with one of the other scents in my blend...nice and fresh!

I have read much information about the EO Helichrysum and the importance of making sure it is a very high quality oil to be able to get the results required. I ordered the Helichrysum italicum from New Directions for a bad case of dry, cracking and itching eczema on the hands. I mixed it with German Chamomile in a base of fractionated coconut oil and made sure it was applied a number of times daily. The results have been amazing!! The healing and improvement was noticable overnight and will soon be gone completely. It is an excellent quality essential oil and I am so very pleased with the results of this case and would highly recommend the use of this oil.
