Jasmine Sambac Absolute

absolute Botanical Name: Jasminum sambac
Plant Part: Flower
Extraction Method: Food Grade Solvent
Origin: India
Description: Jasmine Sambac is a beautiful plant; its flowers bloom late in the evening unlike Jasmine Grandiflorum that blooms in the early dawn.
Color: Orange to Brown
Common Uses: Jasmine Sambac is well regarded as an aphrodisiac, though it is also considered an antidepressant, sedative, and antispasmodic.
Consistency: Viscous
Note: Middle to Base
Strength of Aroma: Strong
Blends well with: Jasmine Sambac generally works with all oils. It helps to round out scents, and tends to work particularly well with other aphrodisiac oils (sandalwood and Ylang Ylang are two great examples)
Aromatic Description: Jasmine Sambac is an incredibly intense aroma that is very floral, yet more musky and masculine than the Jasmine Grandiflorum. ** It is important to note that all absolutes are extremely concentrated by nature. They should not be evaluated in this state unless you are accustomed to the undiluted fragrance. For those trying Absolutes for the first time, we strongly recommend they be evaluated in dilution. Otherwise, the complexity of the fragrance - particularly the rare and exotic notes - become lost.
History: Since ancient times, Jasmine has been referred to as the King of oils (Rose is the Queen). Apparently this is because Jasmine is the most masculine of all the floral oils. It is also interesting to note that It takes 8,000 carefully hand-picked blossoms to produce 1 gram (about 1 ml.) of Jasmine Absolute.
Cautions: None Known.

What a heady scent! I like to make incense blends and this is an essential ingredient in my dark moon incense. This is a pure delight and a reasonable price for an absolute that has such exquisite tones

I used to love jasmine sambac much more than jasmine grandiflorum until I tried both from ND. Now I love them both. I think jasmine sambac needs to be diluted much more than other oils because it is so potent. Once diluted way down, I can appreciate how lovely it smells. I used to live in the Far East, and the the fragrance from the jasmine flowers would perfumed the air at night. This variety reminded me of those nights.

We found this an excellent fragrance once diluted in a mix. This Sambac mixed very well with sandalwood (india) and neroli for a truely exotic aroma that lasts. We are new to aromatherapy, but found through our research and testing, absolutes do not smell the same in the bottle as they do when properly mixed and released into the air or applied to the skin. With the small amounts this Sambac requires, our 1/2 ounce should last a while.

I tried the Jasmine sambac after trying and loving the Jasmine g. What a surprise! The sambac is very different and not nearly as pleasant. To me it smells like Jasmine with an overtone of gasoline. So I thought it must just be this bottle and I ordered more from a different supplier. Well the new bottle arrived today and it smells exactly the same. So I guess that's just what sambac smells like. So if you are a lover of the grandiflorum, try this one knowing that it is very different. I wish I'd known because now I have an ounce of sambac that I'm not sure what to do with.

Exquisite jasmine. This is like walking through a flower garden on a bright summer's day. Love is in the air with this jasmine! There's a high chance that there's a place in paradise that smells similar to this. You can use it straight with some carrying oil of your choice for a nice jasmine natural perfume.

A tiny bit grander than the grandiflorum...bigger and bolder I think. Very good quality and seems a fair price as only the tiniest amount is needed for full effects. Really gives my sensuous blends a sexy steam.
