Lanette O Wax (SLS Free)

INCI Name(s):Cetearyl alcohol (and) sodium cetearyl sulfate
Description: Lanette O beads are composed of 50% cetyl stearyl alcohol and 50% sodium cetyl stearyl sulfate derived from vegetable oils (coconut / palm kernel).
Appearance: White to off-white waxy solid beads with little to no odor.
Uses: Lanette O beads are hydrophilic waxes best suited for viscosity regulation in cosmetic oil / water emulsions. Examples include creams, lotions, body butters, conditioners, face cleansers and baby products.
Compatibility: It is compatible with most animal, vegetable and mineral waxes and a large variety of natural and synthetic resins.

Helpful Hints:
• Lanette O will not totally emulsify or thicken a cream or lotion without a second emulsifier.
• Do not heat lanette O above 80 deg. C or it will not emulsify nor thicken.
• When making the cream or lotion stir while cooling or separation may occur.

I usually use stearic acid for my lotions, but for my eye lotion I wanted something a little softer. I used this to replace the stearic in my formulation and it was great. I just wish it was comparable in price to the stearic. Look this up on Skin Deep, it's a 0, which is as safe as you can get.

Love this emulsifier!!.I combine it with the solubilizer(emulsifier, stabilizer,...)to combine the phases in my lotion.They make a wonderful combo=).My first lotion!.I'm a new customer and I will continue to purchase from them.Love the customer service. Ps: in the bowl containing the very warm water add the very warm oil phase slowly to it while using a electric hand blender.It should emulsify in that second.Cont mixing untill cool then add your additives(fragrance,...)
