Lavender Barreme Essential Oil

lavenderberreme.jpgBotanical Name: Lavandula angustifolia
Plant Part: Flower Head
Extraction Method: Steam Distilled
Origin: France
Description: An evergreen woody shrub, up to 1 meter tall, with pale green, narrow linear leaves and violet blue flowers.
Color: Pale yellow with a tint of green
Common Uses: Lavender Barreme is credited as being an analgesic, anticonvulsive, antidepressant, antiphlogistic, antirheumatic, antseptic & antispasmodic, antiviral, bactericide, carminative, cholagogue, cicatrisant, cordial, cytophylactic, decongestant, deodorant, and as a diuretic. Herbalist regards Lavender as the most useful and versatile essential oil for therapeutic purposes. Lavender is the essential oil most commonly associated with burns and healing of the skin. It also has antiseptic and analgesic properties which will ease the pain of a burn and prevent infection. It also has cytophylactic properties that promote rapid healing and help reduce scarring. The scent of Lavender is said to have a calming effect on the body and it can be used to reduce anxiety, stress and promote sleep. Lavender Barreme is a very therapeutic grade comparable in status to the better known Lavender Population. The different soil, temperature, precipitation, etc. contributes to some subtle changes in scent, the greatest advantage being for more sophisticated label claims.
Consistency: Thin
Note: Top
Strength of Aroma: Strong.
Blends well with: bay, bergamot, chamomile, citronella, clarysage, geranium, jasmine, lemon, mandarin, orange, palmarosa, patchouli, pine, tangerine, thyme, rosemary, rosewood, ylang ylang
Aromatic Scent: Lavender grown at high altitude typically has high ester content (52%: linalyl, terpenyl, lavandulyl and geranyl acetates) which makes it the most relaxing of all lavenders. Lavender barreme has a superior well-balanced aroma.
History: Barrême is well known for its lavender distilleries, and the lavender from this region is called lavande fine de Barrême.The true lavender (Lavendula angustifolia) that thrives in the chalky soils and hot, dry climate of higher altitudes of the Provence was picked systematically at the end of the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, fields of lavender were first planted, at altitudes above 700 m to produce the finest quality lavender.
Cautions: Non toxic, non irritant and non sensitizing

I have tried many lavenders, and really like ND Lavender French, but this one might become my new favorite. It is strong, but not overly sweet...really nice!

I had such a hard time choosing which Lavender to choose, and I think this one was a great choice. It's a nice fresh scent, but also a nice lavender. Great quality.

This lavender is sweet smelling. I like it as to me it smells of "true" lavender.

This lavender is a more substantial, "heftier" lavender scent than the french, which i would describe as a lighter, sweeter lavender. I love both!

I absolutely love this lavender!! This is the strongest one I've tried yet. New Directions has been the cheapest price I could find on essential oils, I think they package them very well and are in excellent quality! I will continue to do my business here! Thank you.

This is a wonderful lavender. I use it both in a room diffuser and in my cp soaps. It is a strong scent and you can use less of it than other fragrances (only 0.6 oz in a 2lb batch) so it really saves money in the long run. Enjoy!!

I just opened my first shipment from New Directions. I opened the bottle of Barreme Lavender, couldn't wait, since I used so much of the oil for Special Blends for Aromatherapy, body oils, in bath salts and now even in my sacred sage product. WOW, what a nose hit! The Barreme is really full bodied, no whimp. Previously, I was used to my lighter and sweeter Balgarian Lavender, but Barreme is the real deal taking my olfactory experience to another level. Readers and noses, you all need to try this Lavender! Congratulations on a real find. Sincerely, Boyd, owner, Sedona Sacred Scents and Oils, Sedona, Arizona.

I love this lavender. I use it in my soaps, and perfumes. It has a delightful full bodied scent. I also use it in an aroma lamp to treat my wifes high blood pressure along with other essential oils. It works wonderfully. If I had a choice of any lavender. It would be this one.

Amond all Lavender essential oils I tried, Barreme is my favorite. I add it in my soap with a "pinch" of Green Pepper esential oil. As is, it is wonderful, its scent is clean and relaxing.
