All parts of the flowers and leaves of the Sacred Lotus, Nelumbo nucifera, were used as a traditional relaxing remedy. Recognised as a symbol in the Buddhist religion, the lotus flowers are edible, and the petals are often placed in soups and used as a garnish. Lotus Leaf is a rich source of isoflavones, and Lotus Leaf extract contains nuciferine, N-nonuciferine, O-nornucifeine, anonaine, armepavine, N-methyt- coclaurine,paronuciferine, liriodenine,dehydro- roemerine and nelumboside, quercetin, isoquer- cetin,tastasic acid and citric acid.
