I started using this butter for my personal use, tried several times with frankincense and myrrh, at my clinic
for massages and my clients love it. I'm out of it now and so are you New Directions. Please get it back asap.
I have a market now for it and the Oil from Tahiti both of these products I give 5 stars to. My male client with atheletes feet adore that oil

I researched butters before ordering and this was one of the most intriquing. IT has the ability to act as a sunscreen as well as moisturize. I was creating a body butter to use on middle age skin, especially for those of us dealing with combination skin, thinning skin, etc. One of my sisters has been treated for skin cancer and she has rather thin, pale skin. I wanted to use this butter as the primary ingredient to moisturize and protect the skin. Two of my sisters are nurses and wash their hands continually. They use and LOVE my body butter that features MOWRAH. It does work beautifully and it does have a distinct earthy smell. With the right natural ingredient combination, the scent is warm and nourishing, almost caramel in effect. This is a MUST ingredient in any skin moisturizing, protecting formula. It's becoming harder to find because people realize it really works. New Directions butters are by far, the best I've used. They always arrive fresh, unspoiled, well protected and quickly. I keep them refrigerated until use for best results and keep my body butters refrigerated until used.

Yes, the smell is strong, but, the benefits from this butter out weigh the smell. I use this in my lotions and body butters and it is oh so nice!
I did phone the company about the color of the butter when I received it, because it did not match with the sites description, I was then transfered to someone else at the lab. They assured me that the brown color is normal and that they would fix the description on the site, and they did.
Once again, if you can get by the raw smell of this butter this is the one to use in your products and the benefits of this butter do out weigh the smell.
Just try it.. you'll like the benefits to your skin.

The smell is definitely not for the faint of heart. It is a strong smell (very 'earthy') but the benefits outweigh that. I use a small about (5 - 10%) in my foot scrub and creams as a substitute for some carrier oil and it works great. Use in small quantities (and with a fragrance oil) so the smell of this butter doesn't overpower your product.
The 15% off was a great plus! Otherwise I wouldn't have tried this.

When I first opened this I was afraid it was rancid since it smelled like funk!!! But after rubbing alittle on my hand the nasty smell went right away and I was left with a nice, nutty aroma and my skin felt silky smooth and not greasy at all. I'm glad I gave this a chance, I hope every one does!!

I just received it 2 days ago. As soon as I received it, first thing i did is to take a little and put it on my hands like a cream. It absorbs almost instantly, leaving the hands smooth like ever, like velvet, giving elasticity back. No fat film at all. The scent is particular, strong, not my favorite, but with time I am sure I will find a way to "mask" it or something. I used it in small quantity as recommended ( 10% of total weight ) in one of my home made product, and it is not so bad with some essential oil.
This is a keeper for sure ! Thank you for the rebate, it caught my eye ! Otherwise maybe I wouldn't have tried it.

I think this butter is great. It does have a distinctive smell but the butter's properties outweigh the slight scent. I used it in a cold process soap recipe scented with Patchouli and Lemongrass and it was divine. Great applied directly to distressed skin!

My only complaint is that it smells so good I wanna eat it! aha! It makes a wonderful sweet smelling massage bar. I also love the way that it comes in flakes instead of a big block makes it much easier to work with.

The Mowrah butter arrived at my gate in a drum which was very unexpected. I had to lug the 73 pounds up my pasture and to the house, and then into the house. It was completely liquid which was an advantage, because my first thought was how do I get it out of the drum, with such a small opening. After finding five gallon buckets to put it in, it poured out of that drum like liquid gold. I drained the drum as if to get every last drop. The butter by 5:00 am the next morning had started to solidify. The texture of the butter was to die for, the smell nature inspired, and the butter just glides onto the skin. I love the smell, the color, and how it applies to the skin, neat. I will be ordering the Mowrah butter again and again and again. Love it. Thanks NDA, Inc. The product is a great find for me, because providing my clients with the best that there is in skin care, is what counts. It was well worth lugging it into the house. I will be using it in soaps, lotions, creams, scrubs, etc. Thanks again, is not enough. I appreciate it's arrival in the drum. I would not have wanted a drop wasted in transit.

This product arrived at my doorstep completely liquified and the smell was absolutely nauseating... I've had great luck with the quality of the essential oils from this company, but I'm really going to think twice before I order their butters again. I had ordered shea butter in the same shipment, and it was fine. (Although I will say I'm not crazy about the way the butters are packaged). This may have just been a problem on the shipping end, but I wouldn't recommend this product - to anyone.
New Directions Aromatics Response:
Mowrah Butter does have a powerful smell. Some customers, particularly those not accustomed to it, may find the odor unpleasant. However, this is the nature of Mowrah Butter, and most find that the therapeutic benefits outweigh any negatives.
It should also be noted that like all butters, Mowrah Butter may get soft in the heat, and under extreme heat conditions it may even liquefy. Again, customers should expect this.
Lastly, all of our butters are packaged in plastic jars with threaded closures. As an ISO 9001:2000 company, we register and review every customer concern. This is the first time we have had any negative feedback on the packaging of our butters despite numerous sales over the history of our business.

Mowrah butter adds freshness and suppleness, replenishing skin to a youthful appearance. Add it to lotion and discover a luxurious all-over body treat; see how it redefines skin texture. I highly recommend this butter.

Directly applied on skin, mowrah butter makes marvels : it penetrates very well and completely into the skin and gives it back its suppleness. I used it in soaps. The scent is strong, but it is not a problem if you mix it with balsamic or earthy smelling essential oils, as patchouli, benjoin, cedar, fir tree, you can try coriander, etc. Make your own tests. It is worth the value.
