I love that this oil is full of nutrients, however, I wasn't fussy about the smell that it gave my lotions. I used it for a face cream and it was very oily. I found that blending in corn starch as it was cooling, solved this problem. I would recommend using this oil in dilution with other oils such as soya bean oil.

ND Perilla Seed oil is of high quality and reasonable. I highly recommend this wonderful oil regardless of its slight odor; because it is rich in vitamins, amino acids, high in omega 3 fatty acids, linoleic and linolenic acid making it an ideal choice for those with chronic skin inflammations, eczema, acne and itchy skin.

I made soap with perilla seed, coconut oil, cocoa butter. I blended lavender, tea tree oil, chalmougra and the soap turned out really nice and is great for problem skin.

I am currently using this oil in an experimental CARRIER Oil Blend with 11 different oils, (possibly more in the future). This was one of the oils whose scent worried me at first, but I used a 1:36 ratio (in ounces), with the blend being mostly comprised of Sweet Almond Oil. The overall odor had a slight nutty smell, characteristic of the seed oils, but went away with the addition of my essential oils. I'm very excited at the possibility of being able to incorporate the healthly benefits of the stronger scented seed oils without it affecting my aromatherapy massage oil blends!

Consistancy is thick, with an odour I'm not too crazy about, yet it is nourishing, and the smell mellows once essential oils are added.

I ordered this because I have never tried it before and I wanted to experience it for myself. However, like Olive oil, it has a charecteristic smell that I find unpleasing. It will be wonderful for superfatting soaps and blending with however, and the vitamin properties of Perilla cannot be understated. Like the previous review, I would avoid using in lotions or creams that would be applied to the face or neck.

Perilla has a light sent as is not necessarily pleasant by itself. I would recommend this oil for body and hand creams for those who have dry skin. It is an excellent oil that I would qualify as quite thick , it lasts long on the surface of the skin. I would not recommend using this oil for a facial cream.
