Botanical Name: Pelargonium capitatum x radens

Origin: South Africa

Description: This plant is a perennial hairy shrub growing up to 1 meter high. The leaves are covered with long, soft hairs of variable density and with pink flowers. This plant flowers from September to October and is indigenous to South Africa. The leaves and stalks are used for extraction, and the oil is obtained through steam distillation.

Color: Pale yellow to greenish olive liquid.

Common Uses: As one of the few oils with the ability to both uplift and sedate, Rose Geranium works profoundly on the emotions. It works wonders in skincare remedies and can be used to help in the treatment of the following: acne, bruises, burns, cuts, dermatitis, eczema, hemorrhoids, lice, mosquito repellent, ringworm, ulcers, edema, poor circulation, sore throat, tonsillitis, PMS, menopausal problems, stress and neuralgia. It can be used to remedy digestive ailments, kidney and bladder disorders and has traditionally been considered as an astringent.
This variety of Rose Geranium is one of the most fragrant specie and the oil is used in to perfumery and cosmetics industry as it can be made to imitate many fragrances and is often used to 'stretch' the much more expensive oil of rose.

Blends well with: Angelica Root, Basil, Bergamot, Carrot Seed, Cedarwood, Citronella, Clary Sage, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Lavender, Lime, Neroli, Orange and Rosemary.

Aromatic Scent: A richly, warm and sweet floral scent, Rose Geranium is not replacement for real rose oil. Adding it to any rose formula to enhance the rose accents and reduce the amount of the more expensive real rose oil.

History: The plants originated from South Africa as well as Reunion, Madagascar, Egypt and Morocco. They were introduced to European countries such as Italy, Spain and France in the 17th century. In native Africa the herb teas was drunk to cure stomach upsets and stop internal bleeding. Throughout the centuries people have cultivated the plants around their homes to keep evil spirits at bay.

Cautions: Rose Geranium Essential Oil is non-toxic, non-irritant and generally non-sensitizing, though it can cause sensitivity in some people and due to the fact that it balances the hormonal system, it should be avoided during pregnancy.

An absolutely beautiful oil. I have yet to find a problem in terms of mixing with other oil, and can easily act as a stand alone oil. I ordered the smallest bottle and plan on getting more. Absolutely wonderful. I also made a lotion with it when my sister was having a rough monthly visit from her friend. She said it helped her. She felt a bit more grounded and relaxed. Cross your fingers for next month as I tend to take the brunt.

A lovely Rose Geranium, works perfectly in perfumery where you want a gentle bridge to help the notes to meld. Lavender is great for this, but when you want a more floral tone Rose geranium is perfect. Blends beautifully w/ many oils & stands well by itself. Very emotionally uplifting.

This is just as wondeful as I thought it would be, although I must say I am a geranium lover! The sweetness of the rose scent is beautifully balanced with the greeness of the geranium. Perhaps a little less cloying than straight up rose. Very uplifting and a "feel good" scent that will soften with wear. Can't wait to use it in the bath!

This was the first oil i tried from NDA. I LOVE it!!! I make it into a simple and wonderful mist... i use a small spray bottle and fill with water... add 3 drops Eucalyptus, 5 drops Rose Geranium and 4-5 drops lemon... its refreshing, calming, soothing and reviving all at the same time! I am going to be buying this again!

This is a great oil. I love the geranium smell. It really doesn't smell very "rosey" to me, though I haven't tried any other geranium yet so nothing to compare to. I use it in room spray, toner, & PMS bath soak. Nice for balance and emotionaly uplifting. I can't wait to try more ND oils! I love every one I have tried so far!

Got my shipment very fast~ great delivery service! This is my first time smelling rose geranium S. Africa...... I would say that it's a beautiful flora and citrus-ish scent. :) One of my new favorites! I now understand why people say it's sometimes used to extend the rose scent. Rose geranium is floral at the same time "energetic"? It has that crispness that most floral scents don't. Be careful to scent it in tiny amounts since it can easily become overwhelming.

Wow!!! blend it this way for the most relaxing bath ever !!! ... 2 drops labdanum ... 4 drops S. African geranium. I dbl the amount and soak for 20 - 30 min. Talk about being peaceful, relaxed and NON_STRESSED!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this scent .... much softer!
