In mid June I spilled boiling soup over my front torso, arms & neck causing 1st & 2nd degree burns + large blisters the size of marbles (arms) over that part of the body. I treated immediately with cold packs & then "poured" on Lavendula Angustifolia (population) eo. I continued to use the lavender & did not go to the hospital for 2 days. Finally I went (just in case....to satisfy my family) & required services of the VON to change bandages daily.
The doctor & VON wanted to put polysporin on my torso but I refused & continued to use Lavender eo. After a week I added rosehip seed oil to the Lavender , since it regenerates skin as well as prevents scarring. I continued using this for another 5 days until the new skin came in & the itching started.
Since I am an aromatherapist, I immediately mixed rosehip seed oil together with eo's Eucalyptus globulus & peppermint (mentha piperata). This stopped the itching for a qhile until it was necessary to reapply. I continued this for more than a week. The doctor had requested the use of VON for 3 weeks. After 2.5 weeks, they said there was no need to bandage. I continued with the rosehip seed oil + lavender. After 5 weeks the burn cleared up with fresh skin and no scarring. No one was willing to believe it happened that quickly.
I still use rosehip on my body since I like it's effect. I also use it as a face oil with other essential oils added. The results were fantastic & all the above products were from New Directions.
