Recipes:
Now that you have all of these ingredients, you may be wondering just how much to use for the different applications. Essential oils are wonderful additives that have been used for centuries, but care should be taken to ensure you get an appropriate mixture. Remember not all essential oils are the same. For example, Lavender can be used undiluted directly on the skin, but Peppermint should only be used in a diluted form to avoid any chance of a skin reaction.
We strongly recommend that you read the Home Spa book before starting out of course, but here are some general guidelines based on whats in your kit.
Clay & Mud Mask Recipe:
Use 5 drops of essential oil per quarter cup of mud or clay.
Seaweed Recipe:
This can be used all on its own like a clay, or it can be blended with a clay or mud to provide extra nutrients. There is no recommended ratio that needs to be followed. Your nose will probably be your best guide.
Full Steam Bath Recipe:
5 minutes for sensitive or dry skin, 7 minutes for normal skin and up to 10 minutes for oily skin. Use up to 10 drops of Essential oil in one to two pints of steaming water in a large bowl, and drape a towel over your head to create a tent over the bowl.
Caution:
If you are pregnant or suspect you may be, consult a qualified aromatherapist or doctor before using any essential oil including the bath salt blend and massage oil.
