I bought my shea butter in nov of last year and i still have tons left but will be buying more soon. The smell is great this actually the first time that i can say i love the smell of shea butter. NDA your prices are the lowest i've seen so far so if anyone is thinking about buying shea here please try it i'm 90% sure you'll love it

I appreciate New Directions hard work, and service. Natural Shea Butter covers and spreads well by skin temperature. The look, smell, and feel are exactly as expected a product of Mother Earth through and through. Makes an excellent massage butter all on its own.

What can I say? I love it. I use it to mix with aloe vera butter and a fragrant oil for my son who has eczema. I really like the consistency of this shea butter, and have already placed it on my list of products to get next time. Did I mention it has worked wonders on his skin. Wow! I'll never allow myself to run out.
By the way New Directions: Ever thought about supplying aloe vera butter as well?

I've finally recieved my very first order from ND and I must say, I'm more than satisfied. I've been using natural shea for awhile and was pleased with the quality product I recieved. I like the packaging too! I will definitely be ordering again!

I have been looking for 100% shea butter in Canada for the longest.
I finnaly found a place where I can purchase it at a good price for a good quality. The desciptions of the differents shea butters available on the site made my choice easier.

This shea butter is superb!! I have bought shea butter from other places but none can beat ND. The scent and feel is lighter and more supple. It's great for my clients in the nursing home. I will be buying more.

Awesome! This butter is a must have in any skin care crafters pantry! I use it in almost everything i make! The scent is a bit strong though so those looking for no scent should opt for the refined shea.

I'm a Massage Therapist and I wanted to start using only pure oils/creams but was never able to find anything. Then one day I ran across this web site and bought some Shea Butter. When I first received the order and opened the jar, the smell was nutty. I also did some more research while I was waiting for my order and found that you can put shea butter right on your face....so I tried it.....first I looked in the mirror and really studied my skin. Then I rubbed shea butter all over my face and neck (a little goes a long way) and when I awoke the next morning HALF of my laugh lines were GONE!!! I love it.....I use it with other butters in my massage sessions and my clients LOVE it too. They love the way their skin looks and feels. One more thing....there is a shine to the skin when you first put it on, but after 30 minutes it goes away.

I finally found the perfect product for my customers who have bed sores, my father who is 94 yrs. old had bed sores and we used shea butter on his back, the sores disapeared completely in 3 days. We now use the shea butter all the time and recommend it to people who have problem skin. My customers love it. I add a few drops of peppermint oil, and customers love the scent and softness after it is asorbed into the skin. Thank you so much!!

I love the nutty odour and smoothe texture and the fact that it's fairly traded and from an ethical coop.
Excellent!
Wish it were packaged in a glass bottle, however.

What I love the most about this product is the color and the smell. When you first open up the jar, the smell is very strong. I made lip balm and I didn't put flavor in them. I got very good feedback for the smell and taste of the balms, they enjoyed it was a natural flavor & smell. I prevents and heals chaplips in winter also, that was the other very possitive feedbacks I got.
When used in lotion, the scent becomes very light, it absorbs quickly and leaves the skin very soft. I tried using it alone on the skin, but I was left with a greasy mess, so I recomend making a lotion.

This shea is amazing! Although, I wasn't prepared for the strong smell, it took a few days of using it and now I really enjoy the scent. It's so easy to work with and absorbs beautifully. My skin really feels healthier.

I have purchased Shea nut butter for personal use many times before. I am disappointed with the smell of this product, which is very unpleasant to me. No doubt about its quality, I’m sure. I think I’ll be safer to purchase odorless materials rather than trusting the descriptions of fragrances I read on this site.
New Directions Aromatics Response:
This may be an issue of product not meeting the expectations of someone unfamiliar with the product. The customers listed below seem to have a very different opinion based on their experiences with Natural Shea.
Customers used to working with refined Shea will notice an odor. We have been very open about the fact that Natural Shea has a nut smell, and that the intensity of scent will vary from lot to lot. This is the nature of natural products. Standardization does not occur without some degree of processing.
Lastly, describing odors and scents for others is at best difficult, and at worst, impossible. We have done our best to be accurate and overt with respect to this.

Awesome quality, fantastic price. Whips up like a dream and takes additives and complementary scents well. I also enjoy the scent of the product itself. Leaves even the driest winter skin feeling nourished and silky. I've made up a cream with it for a friend who has eczema with good results.

Shea butter is the number one product for a deep hydratation of the skin. I make a soap that contains not less than 40% of shea butter. My customers tell me that they no longer need lotion on their skin, after a regular use.
Shea butter is good for baby skin problems as cradle cap. Pregnant women can use it to avoid stretch marks.
A regular use of shea butter rejuvenates skin and gives it a silky appearance and feeling. It contains a lot of vitamins. I always keep some at home. New Directions provides us high quality shea butter at a very reasonnable price.
Shea butter is environmentally safe and anybody can have great benefit for using it.

I order my shea butter exclusively from New Directions. The quality is great. It has not this rancid smell. It is easy to use, the smell is fresh. It gives a satin look and feeling to the skin. Shea butter is a versatile product. You can use it in your soap, sugar scrubs, lotions, lip balm etc. This is the number one butter for its price and quality.

This shea butter is fantastic! I add a small amount to nearly every batch of soap that I make. Even better is the cocoa butter. I didn't purchase it personally, but a soaping partner added it to our supply. This cocoa butter is my first experience with the product in it's natural raw form. I was amazed at the silkiness and heavenly cocoa smell. Thank you New Directions.

I really like the Shea butter, I have found that when mixing it for a body butter or lotion bar that I have to cool it very quickly or it makes little beads that don't stay mixed well in the blend. But I've heard this is the same with all shea butters.

The Natural Shea Butter is certainly a great product, and one we are proud to have ethically sourced from Africa. It is in its' most natural state, and that appeals to many of our customers, but it does require a little extra attention when being used in the manufacturing process.
We do offer two other varieties: our refined Shea Butter, and our Certified Organic Shea Butter. Both of these products will have a smoother consistency, but the slight increase in pricing reflects the additional handling.
