Description: Spearmint is a native of the Mediterranean area. A hardy perennial herb, Spearmint reaches about 1 meter (3 feet) in height. It has characteristic lance-shaped leaves with pink or lilac-colored flowers.
Color: Colorless to pale yellow clear liquid.
Common Uses: Aromatherapists claim the therapeutic properties of Spearmint Essential Oil are: as a local/topical anesthetic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, decongestant, digestive, diuretic, expectorant, stimulant and restorative. It is also believed to be an uplifting oil, great for alleviating fatigue and depression.

Blends well with: Basil, Birch Sweet, Bergamot, Eucalyptus, Jasmine, Lavender and Rosemary.
Aromatic Scent: Spearmint Essential Oil has a fresh minty smell reminiscent of Peppermint. The major difference is that Spearmint oil is sweeter, and not quite as harsh.
History: The ancient Greeks used Spearmint to scent their bath water. It also had a reputation for curing sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea, and for whitening teeth and healing sore gums. This might be credited to its ability to mimic a local anesthetic.
Cautions: Spearmint Essential Oil may irritate mucous membranes. Avoid use during pregnancy.

This is the best mint of all -it is perfectly sweet but not cloying. Very fresh and invigorating. I also use it as an air freshener sometimes and after awhile it starts to smell a bit like root beer. Very very pleasant.

This is my favorite type of mint! It's smooth, it blends well with other essential oils, and holds well by its self. Makes me think of a chilly winter night. Works great in lip balms and blended with NDAs cucumber fragrance oil!

This is a lovely clear, refreshing & springy spearmint with a buoyant, playful character & excellent mood-elevating aromatherapeutic properties. Wonderful in the diffuser with citrus & bit of ND's ginger co2 for a spry room scenting blend. For chest congestion I like to blend it with a bit of ND's peppermint japanese (works wonders for offsetting the herbaceousness of peppermint, btw) & one or more of the conifers -- fantastic when you're feeling under the weather.

This EO smells really nice. I mix it with peppermint, and end up with a candy cane like smell. Along with peppermint, it seems to repel (and even kill) bugs. I have a collection of oils mixed for when we take the dog out on hikes in the woods. The dogs smells great, and doesn't have any ticks. A perfect situation.
