Botanical Name: Thymus zygis
Plant Part: Leaves
Extraction Method: Steam Distilled
Origin: Spain
Description: Influenced greatly by its surroundings, Thymus Zygis will produce very different oils depending on climate, soil condition and altitude. Most White Thyme Essential Oil being harvested comes from the zygis species of Thyme because of it’s more attractive cost and higher percentage of the active Thymol (45% or greater in superior grades).
Color: Pale yellow to orange-yellow clear liquid.
Common Uses: White Thyme Essential Oil is believed to have antiseptic qualities, as well as the ability to cultivate courage. Many aromatherapists credit White Thyme Oil with having stimulating, uplifting, and reviving properties. It should also be noted that the active ingredient Thymol may crystallize in temperatures below 20 degree Celsius. The more Thymol present, the greater it’s propensity for altering states. We would recommend placing the bottle in a very hot water bath, changing the water frequently and once it is back to the liquid state be sure to shake before use.
Consistency: Thin
Note: Top
Strength of Aroma: Strong
Blends well with: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary and Pine.
Aromatic Scent: White Thyme Essential Oil has a spicy, warm, herbaceous scent. It is very powerful and penetrating, with medicinal and green tones.
Directions to Use: We would recommend placing the bottle in a very hot water bath, changing the water frequently and once it is back to the liquid state be sure to shake before use.
History: Thyme was used in ancient herbal medicine Greeks, Egyptians and the Romans. It was used as an incense in Greek temples and the Egyptians used it in embalming. During the Middle Ages it was given to jousting Knights for courage, and a sprig of thyme was carried into courtrooms to ward off diseases.
Cautions: White Thyme Essential Oil is a possible skin irritant. It is toxic if not properly diluted. It is a powerful oil in the hands of an experienced Aromatherapist.

This oil has been a staple in my cabinet. It works really well for lower back pain. I mix it with cedarwood and put it in baths. My back pain is relieved almost instantly. Plus this smell combo is really lovely too. I also like to add it to my morning energizer shampoo. It gives a nice uplifting scent and my hair has never looked better.

I was delighted with the quality of this oil. No funny undertones. I like to have Thyme in my oil first aid kit. It should always be diluted as it can easily burn-lavendar will take the burn away. One drop to a quart of water is plenty!
