Description: The vanilla plant is derived from a specie of wild orchid that is native to Central America, Mexico and Tahiti. It is a perennial herbaceous climbing vine that can grow up to 25 meters (82 feet) high and produces clusters of white and yellow flowers. Once the pods of this orchid become ripe and cured, they will then extract the oil. Our variety is a twenty-fold bourbon; this refers to the concentration of the oleoresin.
Color: Dark brown viscous liquid.
Common Uses: Vanilla Oleoresin is considered a premiere sensual aphrodisiac and one of the most popular flavors/aromas. It is comforting and relaxing and is also an ingredient in Oriental type perfumes. The scent of the 20 Fold Vanilla is much stronger than the 10 Fold variety.

In th 1400's The Aztecs showed the Spaniards how vanilla could sweeten their chocolate and perfume their cigars, and the long, dark vanilla beans became part of the Spanish empire's rich colonial trade as early as the middle of the sixteenth century.
Cautions: No known toxicity Avoid high concentration in pregnancy. Avoid very high concentrations in skin care. It is recommended that this oil be stored in dark amber, blue or green glass bottles since it has been found to dissolve aluminum bottles.

I usually use Benzoin to get a vanilla-like scent, and I was delighted at the opportunity to get my hands on the real thing. While Benzoin is slightly less viscous, it is almost just as challenging to work with. You do need to put it in a hot water bath for at least 30 minutes before you blend with it, and it is too thick to safely use in a nebulizer. I do love to put it in my fragrance sprays I just warm my purified water up before hand and then keep it in a warm place once I've blended it and vigourously dispersed the oils. I dont find that my small bottles last that long so I don't need to worry about any of the oils going rancid with the heat.

Nice scent even delicious but difficult to work with due to the viscosity and discoloration. Also requires a substantial quantity to reach a point of saturation in the product.

Nice scent, but challenging to work with due to it's high viscosity.

Very thick and difficult to mix, but once mixed, it works well for a nutty lighter vanilla- but very entrancing blended with a sweet tree eo or patchouli. Don't let the thickness fool you, you will need to use plenty of this essential to achieve a substantial aroma and if discoloring is an issue for you, then don't even bother, this will turn your product brown. You may be better off with an absolute or absolute dilution if you wish not to add so much to your product, but in the end, absolutes cost a lot more too. Overall a good value for a natural vanilla.
