Whenever I first sniff the dilution from the bottle, I smell a sweet vanilla scent BUT with a nutty base. When I apply the oil on to my skin, all I smell are toasted nuts! I'm serious. Don't buy this expecting the usual sythethic vanilla scent one is familiar with from the lotions and lip glosses sold in drugstores. However, DO try this because the vanilla dilution does make for an interesting and nutty experience.

We loved this vanilla eo... especially after smelling so many other companies' versions. We were also happy to find vanilla in an oil-soluble form (perfect for balms and butters!), since so many people sell water-soluble oleoresins and make them sound like an essential oil. Anyway, this vanilla is very buttery and absolutely delicious... it smells like a vanilla pastry, NOT like a vanilla fragrance oil (which is usually powdery and a bit floral, for perfumery purposes). This would be wonderful mixed with citrus eo's, coffee eo's, cocoa butter, you name it. Definite possibilities. NDA does it again!

I didn't find that this oil actually smelled like any vanilla I've ever smelled from the actual bean. The smell, even at 3% was over-powering and not delicious. Not a product I would buy again.

New Directions Aromatics Response:

All of our 3 % Dilutions are simply the pure Essential Oil / Absolute in a base of premium Jojoba oil. In this case, we are using our 10 Fold Pure Vanilla Essential Oil. It has been "folded", resulting in a more concentrated final product as desired by most manufacturers and Aromatherapists.
