Botanical Name: Lippia javanica Plant Part: Herb Extraction Method: Steam Distilled Origin: South Africa Description: Also known as Lippia Oil, this is a woody shrub which can reach a height of two meters. The leaves have stiff hairs, with conscious veins. The small white and yellow flowers form heads of dense clusters. Color: Clear Light Yellow to Orange Common Uses: African Verbena is probably Africa's most under rated fragrant medicinal plant. It is widely credited as being antiseptic and is believed to be useful as a gargle for sore throats and for treating abscesses. The essential oil is high in ipsdienone, which has been shown to repel European tree insect pests. Consistency: Medium to Thick Note: Medium Strength of Aroma: Medium to Strong Blends well with: Other essential oils from the spice and herb family. Aromatic Scent: Some have compared it to a combination of Mint and Vanilla. It has floral notes with a slightly green base. History: It is also commonly referred to as “Fever Tea”. Historically, Zulu Warriors drank an infusion of the leaf for medicinal purposes. The Tswana use the tea to treat scabies and heads lice. Cautions: None Known.

Wild Verbena is an essential oil difficult to describe as it changes over in minutes of application. I used it with jojoba oil as a single oil perfume. First I enjoyed it for its fresh green scent and later on a pepperry scent came out of it. Very attracting smell. Lovely !

Holly Cow! This one is strong! Careful if you have not experienced it before, I ordered the 1/6 oz size to experiment with and when I opened it and took a big whif, it was like getting slapped in the face, hard! I was not expecting such an herbal, almost weedy scent. I'm pleased with it, but I'm sure it will need taming in a blend.
