Botanical Name: Gaultheria Procumbens Plant Part: Leaves Extraction Method: Steam Origin: China Description: Wintergreen is a small evergreen herb which grows up to 15cm (6 in) high with slender stems, leathery serrated leaves, drooping white flowers followed by fleshy scarlet berries. Color: Pale Yellow Common Uses: Wintergreen has long been used as a pain reliever. It is a also considered to have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, antitussive, astringent, carminative, diuretic, emmenagogue, galactagogue and stimulant properties. It is also used in formulas to ease respiratory and sinus issues. Consistency: Thin Note: Middle - Top Strength of Aroma: Strong Blends well with: Wintergreen blends well with Ylang Ylang, Peppermint, Marjoram Sweet, Lavender, Birch and Vanilla. Aromatic Scent: Wintergreen has a strong mint candy flavor. History: Traditionally Wintergreen was chewed by the natives of the Americas in order to increase lung capacity and assist in healing respiratory conditions. Early settlers chewed on Wintergreen to help prevent tooth decay. Cautions: If you are pregnant, refrain from using this oil. Safety in young children, nursing women, or those with severe liver or kidney disease is not known.
