Ylang Ylang Esssential Oil (Extra)
|
Botanical Name: Cananga odorata
Plant Part: Flower Extraction Method: Steam Origin: France
Description: Cananga odorata or ylang ylang, is a member of the annonaceae family of plants growing in tropical Asia. Ylang oil is distilled from the cananga tree's greenish-yellow, starfish-shaped flowers, produced year-round.
There are several grades of ylang ylang essential oil which are extracted at different times during the flower's lengthy distillation. These grades are referred to as extra, I, II, & III. The ylang ylang extra is drawn off during the first phase and is generally considered the best quality for aromatherapy and perfumery. However, grades I, II & III should not be considered inferior, and the premier grade is so expensive that it is rarely produced.
Color: Pale Yellow to Golden
Common Uses: Due to its ability to anchor perfumes and blend with a variety of other scents, ylang ylang oil is primarily used by fragrance manufactures today. In aromatherapy, ylang ylang is considered to be an aphrodisiac and is often used as a substitute for the more expensive jasmine. It also evokes feelings of deep, languid calm that melt away anxiety, tension and stress. Ylang tends to predominate, so it should be used in small amounts on its own or when blending with other oils.
Consistency: Light Note: Base to Middle Strength of Aroma: Medium Blends well with: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lavender, Neroli, Rosewood and Sandalwood. Aromatic Scent: Ylang Ylang essential oil has a sweet, exotic, floral scent that is one of the most sought after aromas.
History: Ylang ylang is often referred to as "poor man's jasmine". In Indonesia, Ylang ylang flower petals are strewn upon the bed of newlywed couples. Ylang ylang was a popular ingredient of hair preparations in Europe and was known as Macassar oil. Cautions: Ylang Ylang can cause sensitivity on some people and excessive use of it may lead to headaches and nausea.

Thanks for all the reviews, these are what I went by this time for fun. NDA, I now absolutely am a faithful customer, your service & quality is the best I've had in 15 years. This Ylang Ylang extra is on the very top of my list. The other companies product stinks compared to this. If anyone reads this trying to decide to spend the extra $, don't hesitate, you'll get more quality than you can imagine, as soon as you smell this you'll go right to your cart for more, I did! I thought sandlewood was my favorite, now I have an equal or better oil. This is a perfume of it's own, can't stop smelling it! Thanks again NDA.

As far as this oil being an aphrodisiac...wow! After seeming to have lost my, shall we say...passion, for a good month, I put some of this in a diffuser with a couple drops of cardamom and let me just say that it was one of the craziest, best nights of the relationship after being together for years! I thought it might just have been a coincidence, but it's the same almost every time i use it. Works well on its own too.

Worth EVERY penny! If you are going to get a YlangYlang oil, make it this one. I find this version to be so much more refined and well balanced compared to other grades. Totally intoxicating and can be used in so many blends! My only regret is that I didn't buy a bigger size.

I cannot keep my nose out of this bottle, I add a drop of vanilla to make this an out of this world bath product, not that it needs anything so exotic and sensual all on it's own.

This Ylang Ylang Extra is a little pricey, but worth every penny. It blends well with Palmarosa and Cedarwood for a very nice and relaxing Transition blend. Very pleased with this oil.

Strongly evocative of jasmine, this ylang ylang is very high quality. An excellent oil for acne and oily skin.
