Blends With: Cedarwood, Frankincense, Myrrh, and Sandalwood.

Product Abstract: Angelica is a large hairy, biennial plant with ferny leaves and white flowers that can grow 5 to 8 feet tall. Commonly known as the “female ginseng,” the Angelica sinensis herb grows in the high mountains of China, Japan, and Korea where it was traditionally used, especially in Chinese medicine, for its ability to soothe menopausal symptoms and negative moods as well as for its skin enhancing properties. It is believed that its name originated from the belief that it had a Divine Source, as its effects were so potent. Angelica Root CO2 Essential Oil can be used in Aromatherapy to relieve mental exhaustion as well as for dealing with dry skin conditions. As a fixative, it is tenacious and its rich herbaceous aroma gives it a great strength of diffusion.

The CO2 extraction of Angelica Root yields a greater number of aromatic compounds from the root than any other process used to distill essential oils. At a low temperature, carbon dioxide (or CO2) can be pressurized until it becomes liquid. This liquid then acts as a solvent, and is used to extract the oil from plants. After the extraction is completed, the vessel is brought back to room temperature, and the CO2 rapidly converts to gas, leaving behind a high-quality oil.

Cautions: This oil is photo-toxic; after any application to the skin, avoid direct exposure to sunlight for up to 12 hours. Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.

Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

shame this does't blend with other oils. Its totally different from the English angelica root essential oil which is more musky deep and sharp. This one is sweet and amber like. I like it

I was pleasantly surprised by the scent of the oil. I ordered it on a whim to just try something new,so I don't know what it's supposed to smell like, but I know it smell good! I feel that my adventurous side was well rewarded. I use it in a diffuser mix with Sandalwood, Frankincense, and Myrrh while I meditate just to mix things up a bit. It adds a bit of a spicy undertone to the blend, which is really nice.

This smells dead-on, exactly how you want your angelica root to be. Yeah, it doesn't appeal to everyone (I don't mind it personally), but it's great stuff no doubt. Wonderful tonic! This is my first CO2 extracted oil, and I'm not disappointed!

I ordered this Angelica CO2 last year and was quite amazed. It is very good and smells exactly like the fresh, dried herb. Personally I love the smell of Dang Gui. A great addition for skin healing formulas (watch out for photosensitivity) and also for an interesting, smoky rich scent.

Oh my gosh does this smell putrid. I used to think that this Dong Quai tincture I had smelled horrible because of the grain alcohol. People on here say the Dong Quai root smells that way and I agree, this smells just like it. If the supposed therapeutic effects are not important to you, then I would not buy this for the smell. **GAG**

I purchased this to mix with a couple of heavier carrier oils to make a topical female arousal oil (as dong quai is known for having aphrodisiac properties). I'm happy to say that it worked! I find the scent to be very earthy, and I don't sense the sweet notes that other people have mentioned. I haven't tried mixing this into any perfume concoctions, but I can imagine using it for something masculine.

The scent reminds me of a balm my mom would use on my legs when I was a kid and had growing pain. This is a bit thick, but not too much, actually easy to use because it doesn't fall out of the bottle. I use it in a massage oil for sore muscles and it's very good.

This oil smells just like the Dong quai root one can purchase at Chinese herb shops and groceries. For me, the aroma is a little sickly sweet, but it does also have some musky and woody aspects. Not nearly the profound and, for me, quite pleasing kick in the psyche and soma of Angelica archangelica. Really two quite different oils. This doesn't fit the bill for me as a less expensive alternative to A. angelica oil, but, as it is the "Queen of Herbs" in traditional Oriental medicine, Angelica sinensis essential oil should have some swell applications.

I love the smell of the oil... Very sweet top note smell with some smoky undertones, is the best way I ca describe it. I think it would be a wonderful oil to play around with in the perfuming area!

I have a cold and a cough and I just mixed 1drop with a carrier oil and applied to my throat and chest and bottoms of feet. It has a really unique smell sweet and woodsey.
