Silk Powder is produced from high quality silk using sophisticated technology in order to retain its chemical properties, and is made up of 100% fibroin, which contains 18 kinds of amino acids and trace elements essential to the human body. Silk Powder serves as an ideal protein enricher for high quality cosmetics. It is in the form of a yellow powder of 200 mesh diameter that can be applied to a wide range of cosmetics. Users can expect it to help maintain moisture levels in the skin and prevent dryness. The crystalline structure reflects UV radiation, has anti-bacterial properties, and in hair care products will improve luminance and elastic behavior. Recommended usage rate is between 2-5% by weight.

Silk Powder, Silk Peptide, Silk Amino Acids; which one is best for your formulation? All of them contain 18 different amino acids, all come from the cocoon of the silk worm, and all have a chemical composition that is very close to that of human skin and hair making them a wonderful source of nourishment and maintenance.

The real difference is the size of the particles, which impacts water solubility and how deeply each one can penetrate the hair and skin. The more deeply it penetrates, the greater the therapeutic qualities but you’ll lose some of the much coveted look and feel it provides on the surface.

Silk Powder has the largest grain size and can remain on the top of the skin to give it a smooth feel and appearance by entrapping oil and minimizing the visibility of pores without clogging them. The natural glossy property of silk is what imparts the glowing appearance to skin. Powder is best suited for natural make ups and body polishes to give a radiant glow. This type is not soluble in water however.

Application: Silk Powder can be used in a wide variety of products such as shampoo, conditioner, hair treatment, body wash, body lotion, cleaner, toner, makeup foundation, lipstick, mascara, color cosmetics.

Adds softness(etc) to creams... anything you can think of adding it to. Careful usage is essential with this product, small amounts best. As the old quote goes a little of something is good, too much not so good.

I wasn't really happy with this product because it didn't dissolve well but after reading a NDA blog I realize that its just the nature of it. Try the others for better dissolving. Nonetheless the powder was very smooth. I wish the packaging was different though because it can get messy.

Love silk powder and its benefits! Would never go back to the mostly corn starch or bismuth filled mineral veils! This a very fine product that goes on nicely! Put it on before and after my mineral foundation for a "sandwich" effect that is great to keep foundation set especially when it is very hot in the summer. Also put it over my night time moisturiser to hold moisture in.

Great packaging, very easy to use. I've purchased others shipped in plastic bags and the jars are a nice feature. This product would be easier to use if usage rates were suggested. This gives a luxurious additive to the ingredient list but long term testing is needed to see any difference in hair products. Lotions and creams had a slightly different feel to them.

It gives a nice touch to my face cream. But there's some black grain in the powder that don't melt like the rest.
