MSDS & COA
Native to Central and South America, Ucuuba Butter is a natural butter cold pressed from the seeds of the Ucuuba tree. The resulting butter is brown to yellow in color, and soft but dry in consistency.
Common Uses: Ucuuba Butter is exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids and can be used to replenish tone and moisture to dry or mature skin. Ucuuba Butter is ideal for making pomades, creams, lotions, body butters and other skin-care formulations. Due to its dark brown color, this butter can be used to produce dark, richly colored soaps, and it is sometimes used in candles made with vegetable-based waxes.
When adding butters to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them until the texture can be incorporated into the final product. Using a hand blender, create a vortex with your cream or lotion and drizzle your melted butter to fully incorporate. For addition in soaps, the general rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per pound. As with most raw materials, results may vary, so we strongly recommend small, lab scale batches prior to any commercial manufacturing.
Shelf Life: This butter should be stored in a cool dark place and has a shelf-life of 1 year when stored properly.

Rating: Smoky, earthy smell which reminds me of campfires. I blended it with ylang ylang, bergamot and coconut oil to bring out sweeter notes. I use this on my face and it absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft. I also use it for my massage therapy client who have problem or dry/aging skin- it's wonderful, though I have to use darker sheets since the brown colored butter shows up on white sheets. Am trying it on my hair next. I will be ordering this again and again. Keep it in stock please!!
Rating: I have this butter. I have personally come to appreciate that certain ingredients from nature have a stronger aroma than others, and I take this into consideration when formulating. It does not detract from the value of an ingredient but does need to be given forethought before formulating any product. I am glad to see this butter re-stocked.

Rating: This is the first time I have ordered this stuff, and tonight was the first time I've used it. After reading some reviews, I made a hair mask out of it. I melted it in a sauce pan on the stove mixed in with some grape seed oil, banana extract powder and green tea extract powder. It was smelling pretty bad, so I added in a few drops of sandalwood oil. I don't know if it was one particular ingredient or just the combination, but as it heated, it made the powders become really sticky, and unusable, but the worst was the smell. Even breathing through the mouth, it caused my lungs to burn, and put me in a coughing fit. I threw it all out and just tried some of the butter and banana powder, and grape-seed oil. It still smelled but not as badly. I put the mixture into my hair and didn't leave it in for as long as I would've liked. The smell was too strong/bad. My hair is still wet so it remains to be seen what the result is. I really really want to like this product, but with the overpowering smell, I don't know if I can or will. Everything else I've tried from ND though has been the BOMBDIGGITY!!!!
Rating: This will definitely go on the list as one of my favorite butters. I use it for anti aging and have found it to be more effective than the rosehip oil. I love the feel, but than maybe it's because I am blending it with the self emulsifying wax N. Also love the color and can't wait to send a sample to a friend of mine who has problems with eczema.

Rating: I like the orginal one that was very dark with the herbs better
Rating: After reading the reviews I bought this butter due to the fact that lately I have been having hives and rashes all over my body. The first day I put it on straight out of the jar I had instant relief. The hives were gone immediately. I called my mom and told her. Not only are the hives gone but so is my rash. I know this sounds to good to be true but I swear this butter is amazing. I am nervous to mix it because my skin is so sensitive. The smell has more of a root like scent, but so worth it. I am glad to cut back on the medications. Thank you I will buy more.

Rating: I bought this butter and I have to say I'm in love with it. I know that some people have commented in the smell but I find it totally enticing. I used it in my sls free soap with patchouli, frankincense and carrot seed and now my whole family wants a bar. I also used it in a beatiful butter bar and I just can't stop slathering it all over mysel.
I am so happy with this purchase will be buying more soon.
Rating: Unfortunately, this is not the same butter that I am used to. The previous Ucuuba butter was VERY hard this is soft and has a horrible smell. I ended up throwing it out. I had to purchase from another vendor, other than that NDA is still a primary mean for a lot of my products.

Rating: This is one of the best butters. I love the texture, the smell (if you smell it from distance it smells like flower to me). Ucuuba blends well with other butters and oils. It's benefits for the skin are amazing. Love it!
Rating: Excellent natural eczema treatment straight out of the jar! I have been using steroids for years to treat my contact dermatitis (caused by nasty allergies), this is the first natural product i have found that has kept my eczema at bay. I smother it all over myself, especially my face! I love that it does not leave an oily layer on my skin. The smell reminds me of a bitter peanut butter, but does dissipate. This is one of my favourite products from NDA. Please do not stop carrying it :)
Rating: Used this in my eczema lotion bars and it works wonderfully! Will order again!

Rating: Extreme moisturizing product when added to creams and butters. For soaps, the brown residue makes no difference, in the lotions best to heat and strain it out before mixing with other ingredients. Definitely makes for a darker finished product but not undesirable.
Rating: This butter is amazing! I use it in exotic dark soaps. First time the scent seems to be strong, but it blends well with cocoa absolute, labdanum, vanilla and vetiver. I don't mind particulate matter in my dark soaps, because I am adding ground vanilla beans for a light exfoliating effect anyway.
Rating: I'm new to making lotions and soaps and tried the Ucuuba Butter in my first lotion. FANTASTIC! Combined with almond and extra virgin coconut oil, this butter is incredible. The initial smell is strong, but mixed with other nut oils, it combines to make an exotic scent and colour.
Rating: I used this is a body butter mixed with other butters and oils, I love the versatility, but found the scent too strong for me, I did mix with sweet orange oil and people love the smell!, I love the fact it is good for all skin types and absorbs so quickly!
Definitely will be ordering more!

Rating: I use this butter since a while. Therefore, for soapmaking, it is better to melt it and sieve. There are little black bits into it (maybe little pieces of shell from the nut), so it is better to "clean" the butter.
Again, I hope that this butter will be available for a long time.
My soaps containing ucuuba butter are among my best sellers. Very rich and moisturing.
Rating: I love this butter!! It worked perfect in my lotion bars when I mixed it with shea butter. It's very moisturizing and the smell is earthy, but not strong. I will definitely buy more. I didn't strain the butter when I heated it because it gave the lotion bars an herbal look. Thanks NDA!!!

Rating: I used the Ucuuba Butter in a body cream I made and it was less oily than when I use Cocoa Butter. I love the texture it gave the cream. It was so light and creamy that I even tried it on my face for a night cream. Very moistuizing yet not greasy feeling on skin. It gives a lasting softness to arms and legs. The smell was lightly woody and blended nice with Rosewood and Frankincense. It smelled bad in the jar when it arrived but is light in creams or lotions. I had to strain the cream while it was hot to remove the bits of seeds mixed in the butter but most debris just settled in the bottom so when I filled my jars the cream was smooth. Very nice butter! I wish it came strained though so it didn't leave debris in the cream.
Rating: My first exposure to this product was from New Directions and it is an absolutely delightful product that I have been able to use in both my soap products as well as skin care. The natural qualities of this product are amazing.
Rating: Ucuuba butter is an amazing precious exotic butter. It is a wonderful product to be used "as is" on skin or in soaps. Its earthy smell mixes well with Fir Tree, Pine, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Cedar leaf, Vetiver. Try your own mixes ! You can use it in your shampoos, hair masks and sugar scrubs. It leaves your skin hydrated and not sticky, feeling fresh and odorant.
If you are a candlemaker, ucuuba butter can be used instead of chemical paraffin. Is it not a good deal ?
Just try a sample and you will want to order more. Ucuuba butter is a very interesting and reliable product. I used it in my soaps and I will order some more. Thank you to New Directions to provide us such special butters and other precious materia prima !
Rating: An absolutely fabulous butter! If you are looking for a butter that is non greasy and very moisturizing this is the butter for you! Excellent in creams, lotions and soaps. My favourite. I wouldnt be without it again. Thanks New Directions!
