Product Abstract: Coriander is a delicate annual herb with several branches having lacy leaves with jagged edges. The plant grows to a height of 1 to 3 feet with small pinkish-white flowers. The aromatic seeds are round and yellowish brown when ripe. Its name was from the Greek word koris, or 'bed bug' owing to the fact that the globose seeds smell like these insects until they ripen and emit a pleasant, spicy aroma. Coriander is indigenous to Egypt and the seeds were found in the tomb of Tutankhamen. It was one of the plants that were grown in the famous Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Both ancient Egyptians and Greeks believed coriander had aphrodisiac properties and used the seeds to flavour their wines. In 1510 the Benedictine monks documented using them as an ingredient in their herbal tonic known as Benedictine, the Carthusian Monks used them to make Chartreuse in the 1740's, and the Carmelite order in France used coriander seeds with lemon balm, lemon zest, angelica root and nutmeg in their 17th century eau de toilette known as Carmelite Waters. In India, the seeds are still used for cooking.

I bought this oil hoping it would smell like like cilantro to make a lime cilantro blend and it did not disappoint. I diffused it with lemon and lime and Wow! Can't wait to make my summer soap with this Coriander EO blended with Lime and Lemon EO all purchased from New Directions.

This smell reminds me more of cilantro than the seed of the plant (coriander). I ordered some coriander seed oil from another company, and it smells nothing like this! I don't dislike this oil, it is just not what I expected. Great if you want a cilantro scent!

We really love this scent. It's strong out of the bottle so a little goes a long way. It's a refreshing scent for summer lotions. I will be making a larger purchase! Thanks ND for a top quality EO.

This Egyptian Coriander is so nice; a little stronger with a bit of lime to it. It feels uplifting. Like it much better than the Ukraine coriander which is soft and mild in comparison.

I hadn't realized that I already had a coriander on hand (the new Ukraine) when I ordered this one. Of the two, this is my preference. Has a softness about it which the other hasn't. I'm glad I ordered this one.

For the longest time, I thought coriander oil stank. Then I happened to smell one that was different from the one I had (the stinky one) and realized that not all corianders are alike. So based on what other reviewers said about this one, I bought it. I wasn't disappointed. It does indeed smell like fresh cilantro, but inexplicably, does not leave me smelling like food. It's a wonderful scent and blends well with florals as well as citrus scents, maybe others too that I haven't tried yet. It also did a great job at alleviating muscle aches in my legs (blend with marjoram, geranium and rosemary).

I have been trying to find Coriander oil locally for the last two months and finally decided to order the Coriander Egyptian from New Directions. In order to get the discount and save the small order fee, I also ordered Lemon 5 Fold, Rosewood oil, and a really big bottle of French Lavender. My order was placed on Tuesday and when I got home from work Friday, it was a pleasant surprise to find my box of goodies waiting for me. I couldn\'t believe how well they were packed for shipping! Anyway, back to the Coriander Egyptian...I bought a sea salt body scrub at a salon and loved the smell of it, but not the price for a little container, so I decided to make my own using the ingredient list on the container, and that\'s what led to the search for Coriander. I made a batch without it, but it was missing something. I just finished making a batch a few minutes ago and it smells great. The Coriander gave it that little kick of extra spice that was needed, and the quality of the oils from New Directions means that a bottle will go a long way. Hmmm, now I think I\'ll make a lavender/soy milk/sugar scrub with the new bottle of French Lavender. I\'m not an expert on oils and don\'t own a business, but as someone who uses them, I\'m really impressed with the quality and service that I received.

If you\'d like to make your own sea salt scrub, here\'s the recipe I used:

1/4 cup avocado oil
1/4 cup macadamia oil
1/4 cup walnut oil
1/2 cup safflower oil
1 3/4 cup sea salt
10 drops Coriander Egyptian essential oil
20 drops Lemon 5 Fold essential oil
10 drops Rosewood essential oil
7 drops musk oil

Put the first 4 ingredients in a glass bowl and stir thoroughly. Mix in the essential oils, then add the sea salt and mix well. I like a light scent but if you prefer a stronger scent, add more of the essential oils. Put into a plastic container. When you\'re ready to use it, after finishing washing and rinsing yourself in the shower, stir the scrub because it will have separated (I keep a plastic scoop in the container), scoop some out with your fingers and scrub with it while you\'re in the shower to exfoliate. Lightly rinse it off and pat yourself dry. It leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth but not real oily and I haven\'t noticed an oily film in the shower. Hope you enjoy it and thanks New Directions for carrying such a large selection of oils!
