Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: A base note with a medium aroma, Ylang Ylang has a sweet, exotic, floral scent that is one of the most sought-after.
Product Abstract: Also known as Flower Of Flowers, Ylang Ylang is a tall tropical tree about 20 meters (60 feet) high with large fragrant, pink, mauve or yellow flowers; yellow heads are viewed as being the best in terms of quality. There are several grades of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, which are extracted at different times during the flower's lengthy distillation. These grades are referred to as Extra, I, II, and III. Ylang Ylang is best suited for use in the perfumery and skincare industries. It was a popular ingredient of hair preparations in Europe and was known as Macassar Oil. The word anti-macassar originated from this, since an anti-maccasar was used to keep hair oil from staining upholstered furniture. In Indonesia Ylang Ylang has traditionally been strewn on the beds of newlyweds.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. It can also cause sensitivity on some people; excessive use of it may lead to headaches and nausea. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: Finally, a Ylang-ylang that I love! I always wanted to love it but always found it too cloying. This one is lovely and I can't get enough of it. Also per usual with New Directions, the price can't be beat!

Rating: This is the place to get ylang-ylang! I used to work at an upscale salon that sold singular notes, and thought no one could ever top their quality... but I think I've found the best of the best right here. YUMMY!!!

Rating: very good quality, couldn't be better, I can't imagine that ylang #1 or extra would be sooo much better. I've heard that ylang ylang complete is very nice, which is basically 1,2,3 and extra all together without fractionizing. I wish they would stock it!

Rating: The quality of this is excellent. Popular with clients and seems to be little difference from grade 1 of ylang-ylang as far as scent. Will definitley purchase again.

Rating: Oh wow! This is the one! Excellent price for a quality Ylang Ylang. #2 puts anything you could find from those bigger brands in stores to shame. I also have the Ylang Ylang Extra, which is almost too much heady for aromatherapy outside of perfumery. This oil is shockingly beautiful.

Rating: Sensual and intoxicating scent - amazing! I purchased Ylang Ylang #2 and Ylang Ylang #3 and I am unable to tell the difference between them - the scents seem identical.
