Menthol Crystals are obtained by crystallizing Mentha Arvensis (Peppermint Japanese) Essential Oil.
These colorless, transparent crystals exude a sharp, minty scent, which has a cooling effect that makes them ideal for diverse applications. To incorporate them in perfumes, cosmetics, balms, lotions, creams, shampoos, and conditioners, the recommended usage level is 0.5 - 8 %.
Menthol Crystals are Kosher and Vegan Certified.

Rating: Well, it's definitely natural menthol.
This product, like almost all natural menthol is made from cornmint essential oil (Mentha Arvensis, which NDA sells as "Japanese Peppermint"). The essential oil as obtained is 65-90% menthol.
The EO is chilled and menthol crystallizes out. The residual oil is still about 40-50% menthol and is filtered and centrifuged off and sold as "dementholized mint oil." Given the claimed menthol content of the NDA Japanese Peppermint at 40%, it is probably this byproduct from menthol manufacture.
Unlike product I've received from other suppliers, it seems that no additional purification was done to this product. The crystals have an oily coating and smell like mentha arvensis essential oil instead of pure menthol. The foam cap liner used for the 1kg jar was sticky and partly dissolved from contact with the residual essential oil. If your product can tolerate the minty smell though, it's hard to beat the price.

Rating: Very strong scent, excellent product!! I use this in foot creams, and foot scrubs, also have now put it in shower gels. Took some real experimenting to get the proper measurements down, this stuff is very strong and broke the body wash base down a few times. Still managed to use them though!! No wasting here!!

Rating: WOW, such a powerful scent. Amazing. I have actually mixed it in with a shower gel, and the results were excellent. Very cooling for the whole body. Also made a foot scrub with it. Leaves your feet feeling very refreshed.

Rating: My mother-in-law gets really bad arthritis and loves it when I make a cooling spritz for her (by dissolving menthol crystals in denat. alcohol, then blending that solution with distilled or peppermint floral water). However, people should be warned that this is the most invasive-smelling stuff ever. I double-bagged the crystals with Ziplocs and put them in my soaping box, and EVERYTHING, including my beeswax, cocoa butter, and all my powders absorbed the menthol smell, despite being separated and sealed within their own Ziploc bags. Wicked stuff, and it works wonders, but my advice is to store it at the opposite end of your home, away from anything you don't want smelling minty-fresh.

Rating: this product is a wonderful additive in lotions, and assists in lightening muscle aches and pains. Strong scent, so a little goes a long way. This product has become a staple for me. I would definately reccomend it!
