Cocoa Butter (also known as cacao butter) is the natural cream colored vegetable fat extracted from cocoa beans during the process of separating the powder and liquor from the bean. 70% of the world's production of Cocoa Butter is produced in the West African nations Nigeria, Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire.
Common Uses: Cocoa Butter has a soft, sweet cocoa aroma and is one of the most stable fats known. It has been used to heal and moisturize skin that has been exposed to the elements. It also helps reduce the formation of stretch marks during pregnancy by keeping the skin supple. It makes a wonderful ingredient in lotion bars, lip balms, body butters and soaps. Cocoa Butter is one of the most stable fats known and it contains natural antioxidants that prevent rancidity. This butter is very hard in consistency.
Recommended Usage:
• Lotions & Creams: 5 - 20 %
• Balms: 5 – 100 %
• Bar Soaps: 5 - 20 %
• Hair Conditioners: 1 – 5 %
When adding butters to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them until the texture can be incorporated into the final product. Using a hand blender, create a vortex with your cream or lotion and drizzle your melted butter to fully incorporate. For addition in soaps, the general rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per pound. As with most raw materials, results may vary, so we strongly recommend small, lab scale batches prior to any commercial manufacturing.
Shelf Life: This butter should be stored in a cool dark place and has a shelf-life of approximately 2 - 5 years when stored properly.

I use this Cocoa Butter with ND's Lotion base, Body Butter, and in my soaps. It makes for a fabulous lotion that I cant keep in stock due to high demand. It leaves your skin soft and silky. It also helps with problem dry skin by hydrating it, and locking in the moisture. My customers love how they can wash their hands, and yet they are still soft and silky from the lotion I create using New Direction products. I also use this body butter in my soap as well by melting it down and adding it to my Melt and Pour soap Base. When using the specially blended soap your skin is super soft. I really like that this butter comes in chunks, it makes it so easy to work with. It doesn't smell like I thought it would, but I think that's because I've never used the natural butter (only the stuff from the store with added fragrances). It does smell exactly like a hunk of nice dark chocolate. It's really nice stuff.

Smells just like chocolat with some great nutty undertones. Love it. It comes in small chunks - makes measuring for CP soap easy. Great product for many applications - but I think I'll order some deodorized for use in CP soaps with lighter EOs as the cocoa smell tends to overpower.

This is wonderful, quality cocoa butter. When I ordered it I expected it to smell like chocolate (I guess white chocolate) since I had never used pure cocoa butter before. Little did I know that it has a rich, deep dark cocoa scent. I took a piece of the pure butter and rubbed it in my palms to melt it, and it was wonderful! Quite a joy to use, just as it is! It will be fun to experament with. Plus the shipment was very fast. This butter smells fantastic I made lip balms and whipped body butters with this and I'm a newbie at making products for myself. I used cocoa butter as the only butter in the lip balm mixed with orange oil for a chocolate orange flavour, I use it at night and sleep with it on and my lips are so soft in the morning. Don't use the orange in sunlight though just for reference.
