  1. Pour the Dead Sea Salt or Himalayan Pink Salt into the bowl.
  2. To the salts, add 30-60 drops of the preferred Essential Oil or oil blend, then stir the mix with a metal spoon until the oil has thoroughly blended into the salt.
  3. This aromatic bath salt mix can be spooned into and stored in a glass or plastic jar.

  • 1 cup Fine or Ultra Fine Dead Sea Mineral Salt

  • A large bowl

HOW TO MAKE IT

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Mix all the ingredients in the bottle.
  2. Cap the bottle and shake it well to ensure thorough blending.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 1 Carrier Oil
  • 2 Essential Oils (suggestions: Frankincense, Myrrh)
  • 30 ml (1 oz.) glass dropper bottle or roller bottle

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. If using the dropper bottle, pour only enough of the Carrier Oil to ensure that the dropper will still fit back in without causing a spill. If using a roller bottle, fill it up to the neck.
  2. Add 10 drops of each Essential Oil.
  3. Cap the bottle and gently flip it over repeatedly to promote thorough mixing of all ingredients.

HOW TO USE IT/BENEFITS

Begin by preparing the skin with a cleanser, exfoliant, and toner. Next, gently roll the oil along the face, especially on areas that will be massaged in small, circular motions, such as the temples, jaws, or other areas in which tension tends to build. Beeswax-Enriched Massage Lotion Bar

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 950 ml (35 oz.) glass mason jar
  • 1 cup Beeswax
  • 1 cup Carrier Oil
  • 1 cup Butter (or 1 cup of a combination of Butters)
  • Saucepan for makeshift double boiler
  • 1-3 Essential Oils

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Combine the Beeswax, Carrier Oil, and Butter in the mason jar.
  2. Place the mason jar in a small saucepan filled with 1 inch of water, then place the saucepan on the stove and bring the water to a boil. Constantly stir the contents of the jar with a stick until all the ingredients have melted.
  3. Once the mixture has turned into a smooth blend, remove the double boiler from the heat.
  4. As the blend cools, gently but thoroughly stir in a maximum of 20 drops of the Essential Oil(s).
  5. Pour the blend into molds and allow it to harden before taking out each bar.
  6. Depending on the size of the mold, this recipe may yield approximately 12 lotion bars.

HOW TO USE IT/BENEFITS

Hold the lotion bar and rub it gently on preferred areas of dry skin. Though Lotion Bars remain solid and smooth for a good grip in the hands, with the help of body heat they soften, melting lightly and steadily into the area of skin being massaged and leaving it and the hands moisturized without making them uncomfortably slick. Lotion Bars release rich and aromatic hydration that enhances the skin’s suppleness. Beeswax hydrates, tones the skin by moisturizing, and protects the skin against the abuse of the elements.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 4 Tbsp Body Butter

  • 2 or more Essential Oil(s)

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Melt the Body Butter then remove from heat before stirring in the Carrier Oils and the Aloe Vera Gel.
  2. Stir in a total of 25 drops of the preferred Essential Oils.
  3. Transfer the blend to a metal bowl and allow it to cool in the refrigerator for 20 minutes or until the top forms a thin crust.
  4. Beat the blend with a whisk until its consistency becomes fluid like a thick lotion.
  5. For a thicker consistency, the blend can be allowed to sit at room temperature for another 10-15 minutes before it is whisked again into a creamier viscosity.

HOW TO USE IT/BENEFITS

After shaving, apply this balm to damp skin to calm irritation, to nourish, and to leave the complexion feeling smoother.

ESSENTIAL OILS SIDE EFFECTS

As with all other New Directions Aromatics products, Essential Oils are for external use only. It is imperative to consult a medical practitioner before using these oils for therapeutic purposes. Pregnant and nursing women are especially advised not to use Essential Oils without the medical advice of a physician, as they may have effects on certain hormone secretions and it is unclear whether these effects are transferable to babies at these stages of development. These oils should always be stored in an area that is inaccessible to children, especially those under the age of 7.

Those with the following health conditions are especially recommended to be advised by a physician: cancer, heart-related ailments, skin disorders or allergies, hormone-related ailments, or epilepsy. Individuals that are taking prescription drugs, undergoing major surgery, or who are at a greater risk of experiencing strokes, heart attacks, or atherosclerosis are also advised to seek medical consultation prior to use.

Prior to using any Essential Oil, a skin test is recommended. This can be done by diluting 1 drop of the Essential Oil in 4 drops of a Carrier Oil and applying a dime-size amount of this blend to a small area of skin that is not sensitive. Essential Oils must never be used near the eyes, inner nose, and ears, or on any other particularly sensitive areas of skin. Potential side effects of Essential Oils include redness, rash, hives, burning, bleeding disorders, decreased speed of healing, low blood pressure, dizziness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, convulsions, and rapid heartbeat. In the event of an allergic reaction, discontinue use of the products and see a doctor, pharmacist, or allergist immediately for a health assessment and appropriate remedial action. To prevent side effects, consult with a medical professional prior to use.
