  • Saucepan for makeshift double boiler
  • 1-3 Essential Oils

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Combine the Beeswax, Carrier Oil, and Butter in the mason jar.
  2. Place the mason jar in a small saucepan filled with 1 inch of water, then place the saucepan on the stove and bring the water to a boil. Constantly stir the contents of the jar with a stick until all the ingredients have melted.
  3. Once the mixture has turned into a smooth blend, remove the double boiler from the heat.
  4. As the blend cools, gently but thoroughly stir in a maximum of 20 drops of the Essential Oil(s).
  5. Pour the blend into molds and allow it to harden before taking out each bar.
  6. Depending on the size of the mold, this recipe may yield approximately 12 lotion bars.

HOW TO USE IT/BENEFITS

Hold the lotion bar and rub it gently on preferred areas of dry skin. Though Lotion Bars remain solid and smooth for a good grip in the hands, with the help of body heat they soften, melting lightly and steadily into the area of skin being massaged and leaving it and the hands moisturized without making them uncomfortably slick. Prior to using any Essential Oil, a skin test is recommended. This can be done by diluting 1 drop of the Essential Oil in 4 drops of a Carrier Oil and applying a dime-size amount of this blend to a small area of skin that is not sensitive. Essential Oils must never be used near the eyes, inner nose, and ears, or on any other particularly sensitive areas of skin.
