Description: Lavender French is an evergreen woody shrub, up to 1 meter tall, with pale green, narrow linear leaves and violet blue flowers.

Color: Pale yellow to yellow liquid.

Common Uses: Properties of Lavender French Essential Oil include analgesic, anti-convulsive, anti-depressant, anti-phlogistic, antirheumatic, antseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, bactericide, carminative, cholagogue, cicatrisant, cordial, cytophylactic, decongestant, deodorant, and as a diuretic. Herbalist regards Lavender as the most useful and versatile essential oil for therapeutic purposes. Lavender is the essential oil most commonly associated with burns and healing of the skin. It also has antiseptic and analgesic properties which will ease the pain of a burn and prevent infection. It also has cytophylactic properties that promote rapid healing and help reduce scarring. The scent of Lavender is said to have a calming effect on the body and it can be used to reduce anxiety, stress and promote sleep. Lavender French is a popular choice amongst both aromatherapists and massage therapists for its combination of therapeutic quality and pleasant floral scent.

History: Lavender is adapted to living in a dry climate and is native to the western half of the Mediterranean, reaching altitudes of up to 1800 meters. It is believed that the Romans and the Benedictine monks subsequently introduced it to rest of Europe.

Cautions: Lavender French Essential Oil is non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing.

In all honesty I seem to be the exception to the rule. I don't like the scent of lavender and I have tried a few from different companies. To me it's like patchouli, unpleasant. However, I do use lavender for it's skin healing properties. Works great.

This was my first experience ordering from NDA, but it won't be my last! Considering I had NO idea what I was doing and took a guess, I think my choices were superb. This lavender essential oil is amazing. It has a strong lavender scent and is perfect for making bath salts, floral water, and sugar scrubs, which is what I used it for. I will definitely order more of this!

I have only good things to say about this Lavender French, I put a couple of drops around the house air circulation and it smells lovely, I feel relax and the kids are quiet (bonus)!!! I am so glad I got the 100 ml, thanks NDA for this great oil!! It smells sweet and just the perfect amount of the background smell (not too bitter). I love it. I will use it in my perfumes and oils.

The scent is very potent - I normally just place a couple of drops on to a tissue and place into my pillow, gives a very relaxing sleep. Looking forward to trying out some of the other lavenders and see how they'd compare!

I have tried several of NDA lavenders, I keep coming back to this French lavender. Its therapuetic value is sound, the smell is true and just perfect! I use it in many remedies, and the price is so reasonable. Thanks NDA!! I use this mostly for a headache remedy in a roller, a lip gloss roller, I wouldn't have to go elsewhere to get the roller if NDA had the colored rollers!! (Please??!!)

Lavender French is my favourite lavender from New Directions! Normally Lavender smells a bit like B.O. to me (I don't know why lol) but this Lavender smells absolutely beautiful. It's a gentle, floral, calming scent that I love and useful for all kinds of ailments. I was on vacation in the south of France this summer and one day got a massive headache (and I'm someone who normally doesn't get headaches) due to being in the sun all day. Before going to bed, I mixed Lavender French with Peppermint Organic on my temples, forehead, and scalp - the combination of both scents immediately knocked me off into sleep and I woke up completely refreshed with no pain whatsoever.

a gorgeous, true lavender: not too sweet, not too "dusty." very clean, uplifting scent, works wonders dabbed neat onto acne, mosquito bites, stings, etc. also smells marvelous added to your final laundry rinse -- a few drops each of lavender and orange EO. : )

Amazing! This is my all time favorite therapeutic lavender! I mix this with NDA's organic sweet orange for a night time/sleepy time diffuser blend for my 2 year old. It calms him and sends him to dream land in no time. Worth the price!

I really love this oil and I use it in my Aromatherapy formulas often. The only complaint I have is that the last few orders I have received were not capped tightly enough and I lost about a quarter of an ounce in the shipping container. Please ND...find a way to fix this. I love your products, but I hate to lose product in the box. Thanks for all you do!

I love the smell of the French Lavender and have used it in both CP soap and salves. i find it gives the salves a nice soft sweet lavender scent. But with the soaps, they smell wonderful to begin with but after about 4 months the smell starts to fade. I will definitely buy it again for my salves but not for CP soap. I also tried Barreme Lavender in my CP soap and I think it lasts longer. Next I am going to try 40/42 for the soap. But will definitely stick with French for my salves.

Green, floral, and somewhat fruity, this lavender oil approaches the complexity of odor found in my lavender absolutes, but is, obviously, much preferred for therapeutic work. Wonderful in a myriad of skin care products and as a softer component in fragrances. Almost a cliche in the aromatherapy universe, but still one of the all-time greats. New Directions has found an oil of staggering quality for this low price. Highly reccomended.

I ordered the 100ml. bottle, thinking it would last me forever. However, I find myself using it for everything, from laundry to skin irritations to linen sprays and sleep remedies, and I often re-bottle it into smaller dropper bottles and give it to other people to enjoy. That huge bottle won't stretch as far as I thought it would! French lavender is indispensable, and one of the key basics that everyone should have. I wish I could rate it 10 stars.

This is...hands down...my favorite essential oil. It doesn't have the bitter undertones of other lavender oils I have used. I've used it for headaches, burns, TMJ, insomnia...you name it! Every home should have a bottle of this oil.

I love this scent; floral, sweet and earthy. It's exactly the Lavender scent I was looking for. I use this EO most frequently for it's peaceful tranquil properties and because the scent blends well with so many other EO's. It's an added bonus that it's medicinal properties makes it a good remedy for burns.

When I first started making cp soap I was looking for the perfect lavender eo. So friend and i went in on an order and purchased this eo. After using it in cp (which turned out fantastic) I was eager to try out ND's other scents with my own order. This is probably my favorite of all ND's lavender. Makes for a great baby safe soap. I am newby with essential oils. I first started using one purchased from a health food store to add to my hot tub. While the product was acceptable, it was also very expensive. Then I found NDA! I have tried many in the last 6 months but have found that I like the french lavendar to have the aroma I was seeking and the medicinal qualities. I just order the 33.3 oz. size I like it so much.

This is just how lavender is supposed to smell. It's fresh, floral, lilting, and lovely. I use this in almost everything I make for my body and face. The one EO that NO ONE should be without. I rub it on my babies after baths for a peaceful sleep, and use it to dress their boo-boos for extra TLC.

This is undeniably the best Lavender EO I have ever come across in my 13 years of soapmaking and 20 years of experience with Essential oils. I know scent is entirely subjective, but this is lovely! Fresh, bright, a wonderful floral with green notes. Much better than 40/42, entirely more vibrant than Bulgarian. Gorgeous! I bought a pound, wish I had bought 10!

I bought 16.6 fl oz over a year ago and have used it occasionally mostly for aromatherapy. A month ago I ended up hurting my big tow on my right foot and the toe nail began swelling with the obvious indications of what would become an ingrown toe nail. After talking to my father who has his Masters in Nursing and found that the FDA no longer allows a product he used to use for this I decided to try my French Lavendar oil remembering that I read it's various curative properties from antifungal, antiviral, to antimicrobial, etc. I applied one drop before bed for 3 nights and by the weekend the infection cleared and has been cured ever since. This saved my toenail when other remedies were not available or nearly as effective. I will use it MUCH more often now. Thanks for the great price and service.

This is the most beautiful "soft" fragrance of lavender I've ever experienced. I love using it as an addition to potpourris, candles. and room fragrances. It's the next best thing to being in the lavender fields of Provence. That's what the house smells like!

I use the Mont Blanc for theraputic purposes but this is my favorite for the beautifully soft floral fragrance of lavender. I can just imagine the fields in Provence in full bloom when I smell this lavender oil. I buy the 3.3 oz. and put it on all my candles and freshen up my potpourri. It's the closest I may get to Provence and it's a bargain besides.

I recently purchased Lavender French (Dentata) and I absolutely love it. I am 50 years old and still had outbreaks of acne. I started using this oil on them and quickly they vanished! My husband also had a huge lump on his neck which the doctor wouldn't remove. She told him it was just a fatty tumor. Well I started applying this lavender oil and your sandalwood oil. The tumor that was once over 1" big is now the size of a small pea. You can now see two good sized holes where a spider probably bit him! Once I applied the oils and rubbed them in you would see stuff start to come out of the holes. My husband was so impressed as this lump used to hang over his shirt collars. I now use it on burns, cuts, scratches, etc. The fragrance is the added bonus. I ounce read where in Roman Times, WWI, and WWII they used to carry lavender into the battlefield to use on the wound of soldiers. The healing time was incredible. Now I know why. Thank you for this wonderful oil which no medicine cabinet should be without.

I ordered a few different kinds of lavender to experiment on the differences. I love this one, yet still cant decide which on is my favorite. :-) THis seems to have a distinct therapeutic value. I put it in a frosted roller (like lip gloss, yet dark for protection of the oil) use for headaches, restless leg, so many uses you just cant name them all! I give a roller for special clients makes them feel so special and allows them to understand first hand the value of this powerful oil!! Double Excellent!!

I've ordered three Lavenders from New Directions: Lavender French, Lavender 40/42 and Lavender Bulgarian. All three smell similar in the bottle, but in use each takes on a life of its own. Lavender French is sweet, floral and mild. It has a perfect Lavender scent. Lavender French and Lavender Bulgarian are tied as my two favorite Lavender essential oils ever!

I really enjoy this lavender and use it regularly. For skin treatments or diffusing, I use this one. For steam inhalations and neat application, I use the NDA Lavender Barreme, which is a bit stronger. I love them both!

I've tried many lavenders, but this is the first from ND. I am so impressed! I used to grow Lavender and I loved the way lavender smelled when you rubbed the fresh plant and flowers. This EO smells just like the real thing. Not perfumey, just natural and amazing! I wish I bought a larger bottle because I use this one everyday in lotions, air freshners, etc. I even use a concentrated version as a toner because of it's healing properties and it makes my skin glow and very very even toned. It even seems to have removed some of the red marks left by bug bites and discoloration. It's amazing.

This Lavender has a nice mild scent. It is great to mange the sting of skin burns and sun burns.

I admit I don't have any other experience with lavender but this one is amazing! A little goes a long way, and its great in cp soap as well as body mists and lotions. I don't find it to be too floral-ish or sweet. I wish I could describe this better, just try it! You wont be disappointed!

My favorite EO. Great quality , SUPERB smell, just plain FANTASTIC. I definately use this essential oil more than any other one I own. Most times a couple of drops goes a long way. I use in my melt and pour soaps (my favorite one is goats milk),massage oils, bath salts,milk and tea baths just about every toilletry I have created i've probably made with french lavender first, lol .Great buy,I garantee you won't be disappointed!!!Thanks everyone at NDA for offering such great quality in all the products you sale. I really like this lavender. I wasn't sure which one to pick at first, because my previous bottle of lavender did not say what kind it was. However, I was pleased to find that this one is almost identical to my previous lavender and that's exactly the scent I wanted! It is a VERY nice scent and my favorite lavender.

The cost price in the French Lavender is just incredible! A top notch product. Lovely smell. All round very impressed with the great selection and fantastic price! This particular oil is essential to have around the house as well for skin first aid/skin problems. Recommended!

I've ordered three lavenders from New Directions: French Lavender, Croation Lavender and Bulgarian Lavender. The French Lavender is my new favorite. Of the three it has the lightest scent; it's not as flowery or cloying as the other two, just crisp and clean. Also, this is the lavender that I would use for insomnia - it's not overpowering, just relaxing and evocative of the memories most people have of their mothers and grandmothers wearing this scent. I really wish I had ordered more of it.

This is by far my favorite Lavender! Not to sweet or overpowering as others can be. Very soothing and theraputic. This is my lavender of choice.

I didn't know that there were so many types of lavender to choose from. I opted for the French lavender EO and I am thrilled with it.
