How to Choose Your Chamomile Oil
We offer three Chamomile varieties that have some degree of overlap in properties while having some of their own uniquely interesting characteristics as well.
Chamomile German Essential Oil, commonly steam distilled from the dainty yellow-and-white flowers of the German Chamomile plant (Matricaria chamomilla L) is rich in the sesquiterpene farnesene, which is known to have antispasmodic effects that offer digestive benefits. Chamomile Roman Essential Oil, extracted from the Roman Chamomile plant (Anthemis nobilis L) is rich in esters and tends to have calming and sedative effects. It is also typically considered as the sweetest-smelling out of all the Chamomile varieties. Chamomile Moroccan Essential Oil, produced from the Moroccan Chamomile plant, also known as Blue Tansy (Tanacetum annum), usually contains the highest percentage of the constituent azulene, which is believed to have anxiolytic and sedative effects.
