It is unfortunate that this lovely, organic canola oil is being discontinued since it is so high in oleic acid and very useful in skin care. Cold-pressed, organic canola oil is lovely. I will continue to check back in the future for another appearance. Thank you for having made it available!

Canola Oil is an under-rated oil. Full of nutrition, light, and affordable. I absolutely love it in lotions. Your skin will thank you!

I liked this oil because it is so cheap and even though it doesn't smell good, it is easy to cover up with E.O's. I use it for making creams/lotions.

Thanks to NDA for explaining this oil to us. It is so confusing with all the information out there. I am very fussy about my ingredients but this one makes the grade for my soap making. As stated in the explanation, it could not be certified organic if it were GMO. I have had great results using it in my soap recipes & it's affordable price makes it a good choice when trying to go organic without sending prices through the roof!

I am so disappointed to see this item offered by your company!!! You fail to mention that this is rape seed oil, suitable for lubricating machinery but not fit for human consumption. I also have difficulty with an organic designation being given to a genetically engineered material. Please research this further !!!

New Directions Aromatics Response:

Canola oil has been victimized by false rumors for a long time but the truth is that it is a safe product.

Rapeseed oil actually comes from the plant Brassica Napus and Canola comes from Brassica Campestris. They are different products and should not be confused with one and other. The toxicity of rapeseed comes from erucic acid, however canola contains less than 1% erucic acid and has undergone many studies over the years to prove its safety.

Brassica Capestris is not a genetically modified version of Brassica Napus; it was created using traditional pedigree hybrid propagation of black mustard, leaf mustard and turnip rapeseed. This is the same kind of cross breeding that has given us peaches and cream corn. If it was a genetically modified plant, it could not be certified organic by the USDA as this would automatically disqualify it.

It is true that Canola has been used as an industrial lubricant, but so have Corn oil, Flax oil and Soybean Oil and the fact that it has more than one use cannot logically be used as an indicator that it is bad for people. Nitroglycerine is another perfect example since it has long been used to treat heart conditions.
