Product Abstract: Also known as Flower Of Flowers, Ylang Ylang is a tall tropical tree about 20 meters (60 feet) high with large fragrant, pink, mauve or yellow flowers; yellow heads are viewed as being the best in terms of quality. There are several grades of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, which are extracted at different times during the flower's lengthy distillation. These grades are referred to as Extra, I, II, and III. Ylang Ylang is best suited for use in the perfumery and skincare industries. It was a popular ingredient of hair preparations in Europe and was known as Macassar Oil. The word anti-macassar originated from this, since an anti-maccasar was used to keep hair oil from staining upholstered furniture. In Indonesia Ylang Ylang has traditionally been strewn on the beds of newlyweds.
Cautions: Dilute before use; May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. It can also cause sensitivity on some people; excessive use of it may lead to headaches and nausea. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: This was my first time smelling ylang ylang and I wasn't very happy with it. Very very strong scent, overpowering in everything I put it in. I guess I mostly just don't like the scent of ylang ylang in general, but even so, this was far too sickly sweet.

Rating: I'm not normally very into sweet vs herbaceous floral scents, but this ylang ylang reminds me so much of the smell of honeysuckle that I can't help but love it. The price is also right for using this in my cp soaps.

Rating: While I usually love everything from NDA, I am glad that I only got the sample size of this. I was hoping that this would be an affordable floral to use in my soaps, but I found the scent cloying and like bad perfume with medicinal, latexy undertones and wholly lacking the wintergreen notes of higher grade ylang. Maybe it could accent another essential oil nicely, but I don't see it standing alone or even being a major component in a blend. Get the grade 1 or extra if you can afford to, but you're better off passing this one up.

Rating: This oil on its own I find excessively sweet and overpowering. But in a ratio of 6 or more drops to 1, it adds just the right touch to bind unrelated scents into a beautiful new aroma.
In mixing oils myself, at first I made a mess, ending up with clashing and/or medicinal smells.. Now I stay within NDA's blend recommendations and find myself making tantalizing new aromas. In fact, when I pass the perfume counters in the stores, I cringe when they try to spray perfume on me. My mind salivates at the the intoxicating scents made from real essential oils such as this.

Rating: I really like this essential oil, sticks well in CP soap. Used in a blend with vanilla essential oil & it's great.
Rating: Very fruity. Not as potent as Ylang Ylang #1, but just as lovely. More practical to use in soap than Ylang Ylang #1. It's great for skin, great for hair. The intoxicating aroma helps relax you after a hectic day. Too much can make you dizzy, but it's wonderful.

Rating: I've smelled all the Ylang Ylang oils at New Directions and the Ylang Ylang #3 is my favourite....sweet, floral yet somewhat nutty (at least to my nose), sensual, warm scent that doesn't give me a headache. Absolutely love!

Rating: This is my favorite Ylang Ylang essential oil to use in all my body products!! It is good to check out each version of this essential oil, this personally my favorite! I love that I can order it in larger quantities because I do use it in many of my products. Thanks ND!

Rating: I personally do not care for Ylang Ylang oil that much. A bit too flowery for my earth/wood-centric nostrils. However, this particular Ylang Ylang is quite nice. Strong, but not overwhelming. Floral, but with a slight earthy undertone. In small quantities, this mixes well with many other floral and citrus oils as well as my beloved woodsy oils. Thanks for the variety of Ylang Ylang ND that allowed me to find the perfect oil for me.

Rating: Ohhh what a wonderful exotic scent! It's only a shame it couldn't be more affordable. However NDA does offer it at very comparable prices! I love to blend this with lavender in my soaps and creams.

Rating: I wasn't sure if I liked Ylang Ylang....Well I actually LOVE it!!! I've ordered it twice, because I love it in a bath or in my perfume. For me the scent could last longer....but none the less it is a slightly sweet smell of heaven!

Rating: I am not a floral lover in general but this is so soft and sensual I adore it! I'm sorry I bought the small size but know where to go when I need more! I am dying to try it w/ rosewood or cedarwood. Yum! Very femine. A little will go a long way. Plan to put a couple of drops in face cream. Can't wait for a relaxing bath with this! I will have to branch out into florals if they are all as lovely as this! Well done!

Rating: I really went back and forth on buying this. I just purchase from ND for fun so compared with the other EOs on here this is on the expensive end for me. But I'm so happy I did buy it. A little bit goes a long way and it smells so good, very exotic. I take full, deep breaths when I'm using it. I'm such a fan of floral scents; it's really nice to have one to work with now.
