Extraction Method: Steam Distilled

Origin: USA

Description: Cedarwood is a pyramid-shaped majestic evergreen tree, which grows up to 131 ft. high. The wood itself is hard and strongly aromatic because of the high percentage of essential oil it contains, and the essential oil is obtained by steam distillation.

Color: Golden yellow to orange-brown liquid.

Common Uses: Cedarwood Atlas Oil can be used to assist with acne, arthritis, bronchitis, coughing, cystitis, dandruff, dermatitis, stress. It has warming, uplifting, and toning properties. Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil is considered to be comforting, reviving and an aphrodisiac.

Consistency: Thin

Note: Middle

Strength of Aroma: Strong

Blends well with: Rosewood, Bergamot, Cypress, Cassia, Jasmine, Juniper, Neroli, Labdanum, Frankincense, Clary Sage, Vetiver, Rosemary, Ylang-ylang.

Aromatic Scent: Cedarwood Atlas Oil has a woody, sweet, sharper note than Virginian Cedarwood, slight aroma reminiscent of artificial mothballs, balsamic.

History: This Cedarwood originated in the Atlas Mountains in North Africa. In former times, linen chests were frequently crafted from this wood to keep moths out. To date, clothes hangers are frequently crafted from this wood. The ancient Egyptians already used this oil, namely to embalm, for cosmetics and perfumery.

Cautions: Non-toxic, non-irritant. Avoid during pregnancy.

Cedarwood EO will age to a graceful and complex woody sweet smell over time. It is uber light and delicate in CP soap but blends well with other woodsy scents and oddly, with fennel essential oil.

I love this oil. It is one of my favorites. I have tired other cedarwoods and found the scent to be much too strong. This one is perfect. Just the right amount of scent to ground the lighter smelling EOs but not to where they overpower them. I especially love this during the cold winter months.

True Atlas Cedar aroma with buttery wood notes and that haunting, almost eerie, fruity/incense note so many find pleasant. I use this in elixirs for troubled skins and in perfumery. Works wonderfully with a little galbanum and a blend of deep coniferous notes: cypress, pine, and a drop of olibanum. Lovely!

Wow! This definitely has the mothball, cedar closet affect! I did not detect much of a sens e of sweetness. Sharp and strong. Perhaps mixed with a citrus to tone it down. I am a cedarwood freak! This was the least favorite of the bunch I tested. However, I am looking for something earthy and sweet to use on the body.

The scent on this has had to grow on me a bit. At first whiff I was very skeptical. However, it has grown on me quite a bit. I look forward to seeing how it ages. Beyond that - which may just be personal preference - I was thrilled to get my oil! So far, so good with the quality/service!

Fantastic price for a very nice oil. This is a true cedar, not a juniper or a thuja. It's milder and sweeter than many other cedars and serves nicely to enhance and extend some of the more expensive woodies and resins. It also blends really well with citruses, herbals, and florals. Don't be put off by the low price: this is a quality oil.
