Ucuuba Butter

Average Product Rating: 4.8 / 5 (Based on 12 Customer Reviews)

Native to Central and South America, Ucuuba Butter is a natural butter cold pressed from the seeds of the Ucuuba tree. The resulting butter is light brown and soft in consistency.

Common Uses: Ucuuba Butter is said to have anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and is ideal for treating acne, eczema and dry or irritated skin. Exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids, Ucuuba Butter is considered to have anti-aging properties and can be used to replenish tone and moisture to dry and mature skin. Ucuuba Butter is ideal for making pomades, creams, lotions, body butters and other skin care formulations where emollience is desired. Due to its dark brown color, this butter can be used to produce richly colored dark soaps. It can be also used, in combination with other ingredients, for producing vegetable candles.

Recommended Usage:
Body Butters & Creams: 3 - 13 %
Bar Soaps: 5 - 20 %
Pomades: 5 - 20 %

When adding butters to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them until the texture can be incorporated into the final product. Using a hand blender, create a vortex with your cream or lotion and drizzle your melted butter to fully incorporate. For addition in soaps, the general rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per pound. As with most raw materials, results may vary, so we strongly recommend small, lab scale batches prior to any commercial manufacturing.

Shelf Life: This butter should be stored in a cool dark place and has a shelf-life of approximately 1 - 2 years when stored properly.

Extreme moisturizing product when added to creams and butters. For soaps, the brown residue makes no difference, in the lotions best to heat and strain it out before mixing with other ingredients. Definitely makes for a darker finished product but not undesirable.

This butter is amazing! I use it in exotic dark soaps. First time the scent seems to be strong, but it blends well with cocoa absolute, labdanum, vanilla and vetiver. I don't mind particulate matter in my dark soaps, because I am adding ground vanilla beans for a light exfoliating effect anyway.

I'm new to making lotions and soaps and tried the Ucuuba Butter in my first lotion. FANTASTIC! Combined with almond and extra virgin coconut oil, this butter is incredible. The initial smell is strong, but mixed with other nut oils, it combines to make an exotic scent and colour.

I used this is a body butter mixed with other butters and oils, I love the versatility, but found the scent too strong for me, I did mix with sweet orange oil and people love the smell!, I love the fact it is good for all skin types and absorbs so quickly! Definitely will be ordering more!

I use this butter since a while. Therefore, for soapmaking, it is better to melt it and sieve. There are little black bits into it (maybe little pieces of shell from the nut), so it is better to "clean" the butter. Again, I hope that this butter will be available for a long time. My soaps containing ucuuba butter are among my best sellers. Very rich and moisturing.

I love this butter!! It worked perfect in my lotion bars when I mixed it with shea butter. It's very moisturizing and the smell is earthy, but not strong. I will definitely buy more. I didn't strain the butter when I heated it because it gave the lotion bars an herbal look. Thanks NDA!!!

I used the Ucuuba Butter in a body cream I made and it was less oily than when I use Cocoa Butter. I love the texture it gave the cream. It was so light and creamy that I even tried it on my face for a night cream. Very moistuizing yet not greasy feeling on skin. It gives a lasting softness to arms and legs. The smell was lightly woody and blended nice with Rosewood and Frankincense. It smelled bad in the jar when it arrived but is light in creams or lotions. I had to strain the cream while it was hot to remove the bits of seeds mixed in the butter but most debris just settled in the bottom so when I filled my jars the cream was smooth. Very nice butter! I wish it came strained though so it didn't leave debris in the cream.

I blended this with other oils and butters to make a moisturizer that melts into my skin. Very moisturizing and I don't find the smell too strong, just kind of nutty.

Ucuuba butter is an amazing precious exotic butter. It is a wonderful product to be used "as is" on skin or in soaps. Its earthy smell mixes well with Fir Tree, Pine, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Cedar leaf, Vetiver. Try your own mixes ! You can use it in your shampoos, hair masks and sugar scrubs. It leaves your skin hydrated and not sticky, feeling fresh and odorant. If you are a candlemaker, ucuuba butter can be used instead of chemical paraffin. Is it not a good deal ? Just try a sample and you will want to order more. Ucuuba butter is a very interesting and reliable product. I used it in my soaps and I will order some more. Thank you to New Directions to provide us such special butters and other precious materia prima !
