Description / Color / Consistency: Distillation during the rainy season results in a thin pinkish oil whereas distillation is early winter gives a reddish oil.
Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: A middle note with a strong aroma, Wintergreen has a characteristic sweet and minty scent similar to Sweet Birch, a main component in the flavour of root beer, with spicy tones.
Product Abstract: Menthyl salicylate is the principal constituent of this plant. Wintergreen and Sweet Birch oil are nearly identical in chemical composition and aroma; similarly, both were used in traditional folk remedies by the aboriginal peoples of North America.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.
NOTICE: This product contains a component which is listed under California Proposition 65. California residents will receive this product labeled accordingly.

Rating: An excellent EO that adds that mentholated feeling to finished products. I use it for making ache balms and it is very effective in giving that soothing, cooling effect expected of Wintergreen. Very strong also and a little goes a long way. Highly recommended.

Rating: Allow me to start by saying that this Wintergreen oil smells exactly like I've come to expect Wintergreen to smell like. Nice, refreshing, and a nice addition to blends if used carefully (so it blends well & doesn't overpower). That being said, NDA's price point on this oil isn't terrible, but it's not the greatest, either. Already having enough Wintergreen oil (I use it sparingly, as should be the case) I purchased this specifically because the description states that the color of this oil is somewhat pinkish to reddish, depending on when it's distilled. That was exciting for me ... I'd never seen Wintergreen as anything but clear before. Disappointingly, the Wintergreen I received was also clear with no color whatsoever. Oh well, live & learn. Now I've got enough Wintergreen to last a long, long time! If you order this, don't expect anything more than a clean, crisp Wintergreen scent.

Rating: A nice, cooling scent. I use this on sore muscles as a body butter. Please, please do your research before using. A great essential oil to be used sparingly.

Rating: This wintergreen smelled nice but had another background scent that was woody. Not the clean minty scent I was looking for for aromatherapy. I can still use it for candles or my dog's bath.

Rating: I have to preface my review by saying that this oil is wonderful - its smell is so delightfully refreshing and sweet, with such a clarifying effect! However, I ordered 16 oz without having done as much research on the oil as I should have, and after a couple of times of use, where the skin on my hands felt like it was burning and inflamed (after contact with a diluted wintergreen mixture), I researched this oil the way I should have prior to buying. Please use only very very well diluted! And if you have small children, keep this oil (although this goes for the others as well) under lock and key, as it is extremely dangerous if used liberally and indescriminately!

Rating: great price...good product, but must exercise caution as this essential oil is considered dangerous in the wrong hands. As with any product, all information should be read carefully and theraputic use should be left to those who are qualified. (As a hobbyist I know my limits).

Rating: This must be what they use in the wax halloween candy. Other people who smelled it said the same. Also reminds me of wintergreen gum. Very nice product, NDA.

Rating: This has a wonderful strong, true wintergreen fragrance. I use this EO in a blend for sinus congestion and it adds just the right kick to help open up those nasal passages. Another winner from NDA!

Rating: Wow. This smells so good I want to eat it! Or at least chew some wintergreen gum ;-)
Rating: Wonderful oil at a great price. It works wonderfully for pain relief and also helps to take the edge off of the eucalyptus for chest congestion.

Rating: This is one oil I cannot be without. Together with Ravensara it makes a wonderful, soothing blend for chest congestion. If you have any joint pain or muscular aches.....wintergreen and peppermint blended with a good carrier oil and massaged in .......will give you immediate relief.
This is the best wintergreen I have ever used and at a very fair price.

Rating: This is another fantastic NDA essential oil for both quality and price. Its methyl salicylate content makes it the perfect topical analgesic, and the smell is extremely pleasant. (If you're wondering what methyl salicylate is, it is the only anti-inflammatory THAT IS ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. In other words, if you have a muscle that is sore, a soft-tissue injury, even arthritis - you can simply apply wintergreen EO to the affected area and voila! No pills to take, and very fast relief)! I use wintergreen EO in a blend with Japanese Peppermint and Spearmint EOs, and the results are amazing. Clients with a variety of ailments, from fibromyalgia to degenerative disk disease to arthritis have all used this with great results - total pain relief - even when narcotic pain relievers and muscle relaxers have failed to provide the same results. Personally I use it on sports injuries to ligaments and tendons in my leg, with complete relief. NOTE: The combination mentioned is applied undiluted. This WILL cause some stinging/burning/itching when first applied (unless diluted) but these symptoms subside within 15 minutes, and the pain being treated is usually much worse than the minor discomfort caused by the EO application.
Wintergreen would also be a pleasant addition to a blend of anti-viral oils used in a humidifier during flu and cold season, sweetening the scent and making a decent expectorant.
Also, if you're someone who likes to make homemade incense, potpourri or soaps, you should try adding a little vanilla to your wintergreen oil, as it creates a nice candy cane scent for the holidays.

Rating: I only bought a 16oz bottle of this stuff. I should have bought more. I'm just getting started with essential oils, but this is one that I should have bought more of. It is great. I have smelled wintergreen before, but I never realized just how popular it is. I have made a blend for muscle soreness(it smells just like Ben-Gay).
Rating: I am happy to recommend Oil of Wintergreeen from this site. It is the best quality oil and half the price of my previous supplier. It has been temporarily out of stock in the past and one day when I was ordering other oils from the New Directions, I was blessed to find that it was available in abundance. I purchased over $500.00 worth at that time so I would have a supply for a time. Today when I checked the site for other matters I noticed that it was out of stock again. I was very grateful that I had purchased the quanity that I did a short time ago. I guess having the supply low and the demand high speaks volumes in itself!

Rating: A light top quality aroma! I am very pleased with the overall quality of all the EOs from New Directions and this is no exception! All of my EO's arrived in perfect condition which is saying a lot since I ordered around 50 different EO's and other product! The way everything was packaged was secure and safe! They took a lot of time wrapping the items so nothing would break!
I was very impressed with that part of the order process!
