Botanical Name: Rosa Canina, Rosa Rubiginosa, Rosa Eglanteria, Rosa Moschata

Extraction Method: Cold Pressed

Processing Type: Refined

Obtained From: Seeds

Origin: Chile

Description: Rosehip Refined Carrier Oil is extremely high in essential fatty acids and is known to help with dry, irritated, weathered skin. It is suitable to use as a moisturizer and may assist in reducing the appearance of scars and stretch marks. There are some concerns that it can aggravate acne conditions. Please do a patch test on the skin before using it.

Color: Pale yellow to deep golden liquid.

Aromatic Description: Typical and Characteristic of Carrier Oils.

Common Uses: Rosehip Refined Carrier Oil is becoming popular with massage therapists for its skin soothing effects, though it is typically in dilution (10% recommended). It is also suitable for cosmetics and manufacturing.

Consistency: Typical and Characteristic of Carrier Oils.

Absorption: Rosehip Carrier Oil is considered a “drying oil” which means that it is quickly absorbed by the skin and does not leave an oily feel.

Shelf Life: Users can expect a shelf life of up to 2 years with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight). Refrigeration after opening is recommended. Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for current Best Before Date.

Cautions: Rosehip Oil may aggravate acne in high concentrations, and for some individuals, it may cause sensitivity to light if it gets into their eyes.

Storage: It is recommended that cold-pressed carrier oils be kept in a cool dark place to maintain freshness and achieve maximum shelf life. If refrigerated, bring to room temperature before using.

I use this oil in my lotions, and I have no complaints. It absorbs easily and is wonderful for skin.

Everytime I burn my hands in the kitchen I reach for this oil and a little lavender eo. I've also been using this to lighten scars and it's been going well.

I took a chance and ordered this for my oily acne-prone skin and I'm so happy I did. It hasn't aggravated my acne and I see results even at 1% of my lotion. I noticed my pimples dry out and heal with minimal hyperpigmentation and scaring. And old hyperpigmentation marks faded quickly. My friends who tired my lotion noticed the same. I found 5 and 10% too high for my daily use. It left my entire face flaky and I'd have to exfoliate every day. I found the peeling was comparable to using prescription Tretinoin creams but without the side effects of cracking dehydrated skin and extreme sensitivity. But like prescription tretinoin creams, I think I need to slowly increase the percentages of this oil every few weeks.

In mid June I spilled boiling soup over my front torso, arms & neck causing 1st & 2nd degree burns + large blisters the size of marbles (arms) over that part of the body. I treated immediately with cold packs & then \"poured\" on Lavendula Angustifolia (population) eo. I continued to use the lavender & did not go to the hospital for 2 days. Finally I went (just in case....to satisfy my family) & required services of the VON to change bandages daily. The doctor & VON wanted to put polysporin on my torso but I refused & continued to use Lavender eo. After a week I added rosehip seed oil to the Lavender , since it regenerates skin as well as prevents scarring. I continued using this for another 5 days until the new skin came in & the itching started. Since I am an aromatherapist, I immediately mixed rosehip seed oil together with eo\'s Eucalyptus globulus & peppermint (mentha piperata). This stopped the itching for a qhile until it was necessary to reapply. I continued this for more than a week. The doctor had requested the use of VON for 3 weeks. After 2.5 weeks, they said there was no need to bandage. I continued with the rosehip seed oil + lavender. After 5 weeks the burn cleared up with fresh skin and no scarring. No one was willing to believe it happened that quickly. I still use rosehip on my body since I like it\'s effect. I also use it as a face oil with other essential oils added. The results were fantastic & all the above products were from New Directions.
